Very close decision. Wouldn't want to be the TMO

interesting decision, there appeared to be no way to tell whether foot or ball touched down first. Does the TMO have to be certain it was a try or have a reasonable basis for denying the try, could have gone either way imo.

I'd lean toward giving it, as there was no real reason to deny it. However have seen tries not given because the TMO just couldn't tell for sure..

Wow, tough call, I'd give the try scorer the benefit of the doubt.

They looked knackered for the last 15 mins of the game. John Smit in particular has become quite the ruck inspector.

The substitutions made the difference, Israel Dagg and Piri Weepu in particular. PDV didn't do enough in making changes.

    O2 broadband, I hate you.

Looks like I'm relying on ye for the ol' match analysis again! :D

    Good game/bad game?

    MOTM(s) for both sides:

Francois Hougaard and Van Der Merwe's performances?

How did the centre battle go?

    Fair result/score?

Did any subs make an impact?

Have South Africa improved from previous matches?

I hear Carter had a shocker, was that just from the tee?

a few things i noticed from that game

pierre spies runs sideways a lot of the time, especially off the base of a scrum.he is playing poorly at the moment.

when south africa put up an up and under they send a runner 10m or so past where the ball will land,ie they intentionally over run it,to take out support players and infringe the recipient.

habana was off side all day.

jean de villiers was off side all day.

juan smith was immense.i expect spies to be dropped and for a brussow, burger, smith back row to appear.

francois hougaard is highly accomplished both on the wing and at scrum half.

richie mccaw is the best player of all time.

First half was great but the second not so much. Best game of the tournament so far imo. South Africa's best players were probably Hougaard, Smith and Burger. South Africa were much improved especially now that the team is approaching full strength again. Fair result and South Africa will be worried that key players like Smith and Matfield are getting on. I'd love to see them clash in the RWC next year.

Match reminded me of Wales Scotland in the Six Nations. New Zealand hung on all match and then capitalised when the Boks were dead on their feet

incredible game. i think i wet my pants in the last 5 minutes
juan smith for boks. mccaw/mealamu/conrad/ for all blacks

francois hougarrd is a faster fourie du preez with more hair.good player
smith/ nonu are the new bunce/little.no quarter given or asked.fronted up all day.

fair result -outscored them 3 tries to 1.inspiration vs persperation

    israel dagg.......this kid is good

in my opinion -no.same old drop goals/backline bereft of ideas etc.plenty off huff and puff and the obvious improvement you will get from altitude/playing at home.but poor game management by players, dreadful substiutions(hougaard, juan smit) and the fact john smith stood watching rucks and standing with his hand up all the time.

carter was excellent.off the tee poor, but the usual hypebole ensues when the worlds finest outhalf misses a kick or two.the break down the left was superb,he took it in to contact well and for anyone in doubt of how well he played re-watch th match and look at how many tackles he made, and bloody good ones two.finest defensive outhalf in the world

just saw the highlights on SSN, Dagg was waaaay too close to putting his arm dead before he touched down the last try. I paused it and whew it was a close one.

How can you make such an outlandish statement

PDV did exactly what he did best

Juan Smith best SA forward on the pitch take him off replace him with the worst BOK backrower this season.
Hougaard second best SA back on the pitch replace him with the worst BOK 9 since Bolla Conrade
Have Chilliboy on the bench which means you a re forced to leave his bleeding, half concussed, knackered captain on the pitch

The guy is a lesson in how not to use your bench

in saying that...... i love israel dagg

Cruel end for the Boks but they had run out of gas well before the tries and the decision of subs crippled them.

I thought Hougaard was a revelation. A real find for them a year out from the WC. Can't wait to see him v Genia next week.

Fair play to NZ. Kept up the tempo and had the fitness to see it through.

I love it when a test lives up to it's expectations. I thought it was a cracker and really well reffed. Would not have wanted to have been the TMO near the end. Benefit goes to the attacker I think but it was as close a call as you can get. Down to frame by frame advances for the last shot which was still a line call.

Hey Ho the tournament wasn't decided on that. NZ pushed rugby forward and are 6 months ahead of the other two in the south and possibly 9 on France as they wont get a proper season until the 6N. They thoroughly deserve the trophies but can someone now please give them a hiding!!
