Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Leisure cycles in the Dun Laoghaire area?

    Hi there,

Some friends and I have started a weekly leisure cycle from Dun Laoghaire - so far we've been to Sandymount and to Shankill.
We're not super-fit so 20-30 k round trip would probably be the maximum we could do at the moment. Maybe 40 if there were a very nice cafe for lunch somewhere in the middle of it!
I bought Leisure Cycles Near Dublin (operative word being 'near') but most of these seem to require a car or a main line train to get the bikes there or mountain goat genes to cope with the vertical ascent (I did mention we're not fit? :) Vico Road is probably the limit of what we want to do right now.
The train might be an option but in the mean time could anyone suggest nice leisure cycles we could do starting from Dun Laoghaire?
    Your advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Marlay Park is nice.
Or the Phoenix Park if you don't mind cycling through town. Which sounds a lot worse than it is though I think.

Thanks - both good ideas :)
I've heard there's a really nice cycle to Marlay Park
Phoenix Park could be nice too

The cycle to Howth village and back is at the long end of your range, but you do get fresh fish and chips at the halfway point.

Thanks - I 'accidentally' did that one evening i.e. didn't know that's how far the route was - my knees didn't forgive the 60 k too willingly! (does knee pain mean seat height not right though?) Maybe we could work up to that one - thanks for the suggestion

out to Greystones, lunch in the Happy Pear and back to to Dun Laoghaire - about 40K (bit of a hill between Bray and Greystones, but its not exactly the alps).

Yeah id cycle that regularly to stretch the legs, after the first time the hill is fine

Something similar to the route from this thread would probably suit you.
