Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't ever remember seeing Joe Cole take a pen for Chelsea or the hammers before. bit odd to start now.

Genuine question but who else would have taken it. Gerrard is the main peno taker and I don't think Torres takes them. Obviously it was to give Joe a chance to score his first Liverpool goal.

    Torres looks fierce rusty.

    Really?

  • Registered Users Posts: 268 ✭✭smoochie06

Aurelio should have taken that. That could cost us dearly.

Or even Torres. I would have put my house on him to score.

I think it was a case of give it to Joe to break his duck. Which i hope doesnt come back to haunt us.

    Extreme sarcasm ;)

    After Torres and probably Aurelio
I presume Jovanovic has taken a fair few pens.
I'd imagine Maxi would have a decent ability as well

Should never be a consideration, especially in only his 3rd competitive game.

Torres sucks at penos, wouldn't want him near it either.

We need a bigger lead than this to take to Turkey. Or certainly play a stronger side at least.

My first choice would have been Jova, and im astonished it wasn't him. He's a recognised penalty taker with an excellent record with them. Cole meanwhile never takes them.

Very early days for Cole obviously, but i really don't want there to be too much fawning over him. Very much don't need another ego calling the shots, when others are better placed to do things for the team (a la Gerrard with corners for example)

How did that not go in?

Remaining outfield subs - Wilson, Skrtel, Spearing, Pacheco, Dave

No real point in taking Joe Cole off with the suspension so unless Pacheco replaces one of the wide players or Dave replace Torres not much in the way of options.

Joke of a decision. That's a good goal he's disallowed. FFS

Nothing wrong with that, apart from their 'keeper not getting booked for faking it.

    Hint of offside about it

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,709 ✭✭✭CR 7

Excellent decision based on that angle. Definitely offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,144 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Odd decision making from Torres there, loads of options on the break and just slowly ran into the man instead...

How many frees have they given away... a few yellows would have sorted out the persistent fouling

Perfectly good debut goal for Poulsen ruled out.

Ridiculous especially when you see it on replay.

The free was given for a foul on the keeper not offside

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

    Actually yeah, Poulsen was offside.

Don't think that's why it was disallowed though.

There was no foul on the keeper, it is not debateable at all.

    Doesn't matter anyways, wasn't given.

I've a bad feeling about the last few mins though.

Really want the second goal. I can see there being nervous moments at the end if we don't, don't want a 1-1. Please now Liverpool, preferably Lucas(header or not).

Looked pretty rusty - last game he played was in March though.

Ref could defintely have given a few more yellows.

I think its the persistent fouling of the turks. Lack of yellows didnt help either

if Liverpool concede another late goal the ipads getting it

Don't think the Maxi Dave switch worked out all that well - lost our way since that happened.

    Roy looks mightily p!ssed off.

Probably because he knows this tie could and should be in the bag and he could have sent the U18s to Turkey.

    - missed penalty
    - stone wall pen not given
    - Poulsen goal not given
    - Lucas on a plate header
    - Jovanovic chance saved by keeper
    - Torres shot from distance
