I had a bad accident in my mams car and I got an estimate from Sandyford Motors. Although its isnt necessarily any cheaper than others I got they are closest to me and the car will have to be towed as it wont start now. A friend of mine told me that they use second hand parts for crash repairs? Is this allowed and will my insurance company penalise me for that??

You're posting in the right place, but perhaps there is no one with experience of crash repairs from Sandyford Motors.

Do they even have their own bodyshop on site? Most main dealers outsource to local specialists so I'd recommend going to someone else in the area who is more focused on repairs.

I can't think of anybody around Sandyford to recommend - perhaps somebody else can.

I can highly recommend R&E Crash Repairs in Tallaght, if that isn't too far out for you.

If it's Sandyford Motors in the village just behind the petrol station, then I would be wary. They made a mess of my car when it was with them for an oil change - and then overcharged me for the pleasure (I supplied the oil and filter).

Not a big deal compared to fixing crash damage I guess, but enough to make me steer clear of them thereafter.

Sandyford Motors is an independent car dealer behind the Maxol filling station en route to Sandyford village coming from Dundrum. Not to be confused with Sandyford Motor Centre who are a main Franchise dealer in Sandyford Ind Est selling Opel, Mazda and formerly Renault.

I'm in the trade and have done business with both sandyford motors and R and E in tallagh and can safely tell you for a fact that R and E in tallagh are far far better, I even got my own car done there. If you like I'll pm you one of the owners mobile number and give you my name to say where you got it from. I worked in a main dealer in sandyford and we got all our work done in sandyford motors, BUT if we had an expensive car or a fussy customer we'd send it to R and E in tallagh to get it done to perfection.

Sandyford motor company i wouldn't use if you can.

I bought a car off them fully serviced, which it wasn't and repeatedly told that it was even had a receipt telling me what was done.

So if i was you i wouldn't trust them and get some place else to do it.

If its the place behind the maxol they're pretty dodge too, but thats only through what i've heard rather then personal experience

Thanks for all the advice, I spoke to a few people around Sandyford that are in the motor trade and its a unanimous no from everybody!! Heard a few stories in the process of my query and its bad to say the least!!!!!
Its my first time using boards and I greatly appreciate the info!! Hope I can return the favour to at least a few!
