Ugh, missed out on 2 achievements on STEAM because I used a console code and forgot to restart the game afterwards, nothing a second playthrough won't fix however.

    Ah c*ntflap.

    Yes. C*ntflap.

So I'm about to enter that area called the Strip and the robot comes over asking for the money or a passport. I decide to try and blast my way through, only now all the robots in the area are after me. And my last saved game was 40 minutes ago.

Man, looks like I've a lot of walking ahead of me.

That "40 minutes ago save" is worth it.

Also he doesn't take any money, you just need 2k on you at that point and he'll let you in without checking you again.

Ah. Now to only try and get 2k in credits. Hm. I'm a bit of a spending whore in these games.

I try to save as frequently as possible, but get a little comfortable with the autosaves - up until I walk into a new area with 2 bars of health, a room full of enemies and no ammo.

Actually, I was in neutral clothes. Didn't have a problem with NCR outside the base, just inside. I reloaded and went through it all again and they didn't attack me this time.

Something weird happened to me similar to this. I exited through the Helios One power plant and there was loads of weird noise; like something being knocked over. I turn back and there's loads of dogs and mole rats just materialized in front of me and start attacking me. Then all the NCR guys start firing on me too. I reload and it's all fine then.

 Never ever trust an auto save in Fallout

Never ever trust an auto save in general!

The one thing that somewhat annoys me about the console versions (well xbox 360) is that there's no quick save function.

You know the soldier with the revolver on the opening screen, what armor is he wearing and is it available in game?

    I was looking forward
to wearing BoS power armour then i realised the NCR hate them and shot on sight :(. Hoping i can secure some NCR versions of the power armor

there is definitely NCR power armour in the game, but wearing that will make the BoS shoot you, you gotta pick your sides

Had similar, exited Helios 1 and heard the sound then the woman from the scrapyrad was there and I must have "landed" on here as i exited as the 6 dogs turned and attacked me.

That or I loaded a save in an empty camp but there were 5 Cadazors there now, everytime I loaded the save. Even when it autosaves as you sleep, they appeared in that save point. Since I was annihilated in 5 seconds each time I had to skip back an hour to my last save

Is that the woman that you had to get the modules from? Come to think of it, those were her dogs, but no idea why the mole rats were there too.

    Cazadors dont like fire.

Figured out Nightkin and Death claw strategys too.

Anti material sniper rifle with incendiary bye bye deathlclaw, frag mines for nightkin. Aim for the legs stopping them running makes very easy to kill.

Black mountain and the quarry were exceptionally tough.

Why cant i snipe in VATs from a distance? bit crap tbh

    I have 62,000 bottle caps :D
Get ED E and hes as far as i can see an inventory bag with no wieght limit clear and area/town stick all your guns inside him then loot the **** out of the place i mean everything if it can be taken take it then fast travel to a shop and sell everything rinse and repeat until theres nothing left in the town. Nipton and Primm are good for about 6000 each

You should be able to snipe yourself though, just crouch and take aim, you should get the ''critical hit'' which isn't overly hard.

I'm up to level 22 now.... I've literally played this game since i got it on Friday.... what a waste of a weekend i taught this morning with college tomorrow :pac: (waste in terms of how fast time went :D)

Anyone else try this in relation to your first encounter with caeser as part of the main quest....
i decided from the start i was giving the chip to Mr.House this play, when i was forced into the bunker i saved and taught id go down to the computer server and when i heard him say he knew Caeser would give me the chip i taught they were in cahoots so decided to reload and blast my way out of the camp with the chip.... ballistic fist's kill you quick so it took me a while to get them all... then realised my companion disappeared so reloaded after 30mins of looking :(..... seems i wasn't meant to blast my way out anyway :D...the option came after you entered the bunker.
btw ballistic fists are worth a mint... was looking forward to selling them until i lost my companion

I see some people talking about being spending whores.... anyone a saving whore like me?.... i just build caps up and don't like spending them :S..... had to convince myself that buying two guns for 10k out of my 18 was better then having caps on me......

I tend to try save caps though i spent 900 caps or so on "that gun" earlier so slightly broke now (only three hours playing). Is it worth holding onto NCR cash or should i just trade it for caps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

Anyone know any merchants who have more than 2k caps on them at once?

Where do I need to add skill points in order to get robots to do what I want?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,479 ✭✭✭Notorious97

I see alot of people who pick anything up to sell, i know thats how it probably should be played, but i seem to just wander around, anything of value i take, wouldn’t be a big looter for junk really, maybe i should be as im always broke!

I have shot and robbed people who i come across who are holding a good bit of cash or guns though :D

Gah - does anyone else find things like Blackjack really badly done? The writing covers your cards, so it's hard to tell what number you have.

That gun?.... the one with no ammo the kid has?
Ya i still have my tribes money, not going to sell it until i know for sure but on level 23 now with over 30 hours put into it and it still hasn't come to any use, think you just trade it in a casino(might get better value then trader as they give you less then value)

The robot in the box at the ''Gun Runners'' plant, near the strip. He has 8000 and SERIOUS weapons.

If you play evil you can just massacre towns and take what you please. But when your doing it good scavenging is your only source. I search EVERY inch of a building a find, not leaving till i've covered the whole local map and went through each door.
Desk drawers and filing cabinets ALWAYS contain either cigarettes, caps or ammo if they contain something. Metal boxes too.

I generally avoid any items worth less then 20-1 weight. And i got a companion early in the game so i have an extra 250 of space there also. Just decided yesterday to cut down on items and get more weapons, for a weight/space ratio i'll make 10 times more.
It wasn't a problem in F3 as you progressed with the necessary weapons and as you improved the enemies got harder, but i've noticed tough enemies off the bat in this and when i reached L.20 (which was the cap in F3) i didn't have any skills over the 60 mark(prob due to permanent skills boosting mags being harder to find).
So you need to buy the stronger weapons to make the combat easier. I haven't found any of the ones i found at some merchants so far wheras in F3 i was discarding weapons like the assault rifle long before L.20 and using all the best guns.

"That Gun" is the one that looks like Deckard's gun from Bladerunner, the name is a reference to players referring to the .223 pistol from FO and FO2 as "that Gun".

EDIT: Ugh, stupid hostile NCR guard dogs at the Helios ONE, I wish Obsidian would hurry up with the patches.

I'm dreading my first deathclaw encounter, the things scared the ****e out of me in FO3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

I already killed 2 young deathclaws, mind you it was from a fair distance.

2 ways of getting a passport

A Strip Passport can also be located in a cemetery around 15 squares due west of New Vegas, open the grave in the far left corner of the cemetery and as well as a few guns, a passport can be found.
Mick and Ralph's store located by Freeside East Gate.the passport is 500 caps.

Here's a glitch to get unlimited caps i found. Don't read it if you're easily tempted :)
The casino in primm will reopen after about 8 days. Go to the cashier and exchange caps for chips, then exchange the chips back for caps. The chips won't be removed from your inventory so you can do this infinitely. The higher the caps to chips, the bigger the cashout. Made about 190k out of this so well funded now!

I got myself up to 80 science points and got the robot to let me in.
