The patch was installed I think (Though didn't run the cache deframent... thing) but I'm still getting random performance issues. I was in

Vault 34

last night and random spots in there kept causing massive performance drops, for no apparent reason.

Okey doke, so I'm thinking I'll get the game to keep myself occupied for a while. I played Fallout 3 but wasn't overly impressed with it, found it very boring in parts (I do love Oblivion, though........Lord, I how love it, never stop playing it)

Anywho, I'm guessing you guys would recommend it? How's it handling on the PC lately (patch wise if any, etc)

You sound exactly the same as me. I loved Oblivion, still do. But Fallout 3 left me cold. Couldn't put my finger on it but it felt like a chore.

New Vegas on the other hand has me hooked. Get it I say.

I was sorta the same the prob will fallout 3 was that it was actually a bit depressing to play , the bland landscapes and the lack of charecters you actually care about!
Fallout new vegas the landscapes are more interesting and much more interesting characters

You meet them along the way , ED-E ( a robot ) in Primm is likely the 1st you will meet or boone in novak. Usually it involves doing something to get them to join you.

you can set that on the pc anyway if you press the E button on them a big round menu comes up and you set things like weapons eg. Knife/pistol/rifle or Distance : stay close/med /far etc etc.

you have to feed them guns and ammo, well i did anyway

Boone got an anti material and the gobi sniper and ammo for both.

veronica got a variety of punching gloves.

ede got flamer+ and laser rifle.


Also give them armour.

So I got the game for PC and 1st impressions have left me feeling that I can get into this more than Fallout 3, characters seem to have more personality and the fact that the same voice actors from Oblivion aren't in it is a big plus................was sick of those voices. I'm actually liking the music too and leave it on when I'm wandering about. :pac:

Was having some problems with stuttering / FPS spikes but I downloaded a .DLL file fix for my ATI card and it's like playing on a different game engine, runs flawless now at full whack.

Try it if your having grief over performance, all you do is place it in the Fallout directory and thats it:

I"m up to about level 18 or so now and I've been keeping all my loot in my gaff in Novac. I've got loads and loads of various guns and armour and stuff, I"m never going to use it all.

Where's the best place to sell it in terms of price? I tried the GunRunners but they didn't seem to be good value.

NV has decided to stop working, I thought it was because I overrided some of the graphics settings, that doesn't seem to be the case because after I set them back, it still crashes

Verify the game files through Steam? Then start installing your mods again?

I've narrowed down the problem, the Fallout_default.ini (which I need to change for most mods to work and especially for Darn_UI) is throwing a fit whenever I change it.

Fixed it by using Archive Invalidation from FOMM instead of the standalone one, everything works fine now

I feel way too powerful too soon and I am only level 6 or 7. My two new companions of Ez and Boone are just too strong.

Best bit so far? "Follow me out on front of the big Dinosaur, I want to show you something"

You should probably change the difficulty then, im at level 26 and just about keeping up with the enemies on "Very Hard" difficulty.

Can't comment on regular, but no way was hardcore that easy so early and I was level 10 by the time I got to Novak. Mind you I was too afraid to have companions follow me at that stage, I (almost) always left them waiting in safe house as they die for keeps on hardcore............... R.I.P cass and rex lol (I'd done way to much to warrant a reload to get them back )

Just wondering is it possible to play the main quest without the platinum chip? I managed to lose it .

I killed a rake of people trying to get to benny but he fled. Then i got invited to meet with caesar and ending up going with boon and killing everything that moved at the legion camp(fort). I got to benny and killed him but no chip, I heard that Caesar should have it but I cant find his body(might be because I went in there with a rocket launcher and the C finder).

Should also note that I killed mr house if that makes any difference.

O yeah, and my last save is about 4 hours back. Not too bad but id rather not do it if possible.

Kind of get your pain guys.

I had Boone with me when I got to Nipton (not sure if it would have mattered since Legion hate me anyway). But rampage insued as well as the failure of missions I hadn't even gotten a chance to start due to the death of someone important (not sure which one of them it was).

Game makes it hard to be a baddie unless you go really out of your way imo.

Are you sure you lost it? Kinda weird that happened if you did. I seemed to have it before Caesar gave it to me.
