Quick question, has it happened to any of you guys, where you get rid of \ sell a gun and find a few rounds of ammo that you no longer have any use for as you dont have that calibre anymore.
How do ye get rid of those rounds ?

For us, the easiest way is to give them away. Or give them with the rifle shotgun to new owner. i gave some back to RFD and swapped for current ammo

If i've sold the gun to a friend or someone i see often i usually give it to them, if not anyone with the same caliber. No law against gifting/giving ammo to someone. Same as selling, as long as no profit is made, i think its all okay.

    OTC.

Why would it matter if you made profit?

Because you'd be selling for profit; it could be argued that you are acting as a commercial set up without proper permits.

It's been a while since I looked at the law around this, but from memory I think the phrase requiring you to be an RFD is if you are selling "by way of trade or business". To the best of my knowledge private sales are OK, even if you turn a profit.

As with all these things though, don't take my word for it. Talk to someone who knows the law properly first.
