"It's wonderful. You don't have to worry about what anyone thinks anymore. People that matter will be close and that's all that matters."

Tubridy is used to RTE and Noel Kelly unreservedly telling him what a great lad he is, a showering him with the usual oul plámás in spite of the neverending spiral of his listenership figures... Twitter gave him a dose of reality. It could have been another tool for him to cash in on his celebrity, like his books, but I think he overestimated how popular he was, and underestimated how willing people (albeit keyboard warriors) were in voicing opinions to let him know exactly what they thought of him...

Tubs going for the world record for the number of times you can say the phrase 'acting the maggot' in a single radio show!

    Where's Norris McWhirter? :pac:

No Newstalk signal where I was this morning, so when I had enough of the usual depressionfest with John Murray, I switched over to Tubridy....

"you know Michael Flatley gets dressed up in a suit every Friday evening, just to have dinner with his wife. Now I have to put on a suit every friday night, but that's because I'm Johnny Mc Presenter Pants."

He's certainly PANTS, but he's certainly not a presenter...

This morning he had an Indian actress on who is in a play, Nirbhaya, about the culture of rape and sexual assault that is quite prevalent in India. What does he play after the interview??? Blurred Lines.

RTÉ 2fm national weekdays reach is static at 10% b-o-b, to which boss Dan Healy said: “We predicted this book for 2fm and there are no surprises here. In fact, the main surprise is that we’re ahead of forecast, with a market share of 6.6%. This is the baseline from which we build and there are good indicators for growth.” The IBI aren’t happy about these figure though..

Any word on the breakfast show?

Total faith? Is that the Radio equivalent of the political "Full confidence in" - something that is rapidly followed by a disposal/demotion?

Down 13,000 listeners in the last quarter. Hardly surprising. It's crap.

I was on the road again today. Tuned in at 9am to listen to giggle at his condescending reviews of the tabloid headlines and the entertainment gossip.... And he's not to be seen again... I dont think anybody gives a sh1t at this stage, they all know the writing is on the wall.

someone should ask Eoghan where we can see the deleted "foals" interview from the weekend!

    He's not on today either.
    Tubridy 19th August 2014
The presenter, who returned to the airwaves yesterday after his summer break, said “We’re back in the game and back in the saddle and good to go until Christmas. Christmas is the next time we get a holiday. It is going to be chaotic between here and then."

RTE must be a great place to work in, a pure fantasy land. It must be very chaotic alright, picking and choosing what days to take off.

They say all those articles in the media regarding how great tubridy is and how he always has the bbc to fall back on if Ireland foolishly rejects him are all sponsored by Noel kelly!

If you were listening on Thursday you would have heard him say that he would be missing for a few days because he had to do something in preparation for the Late Late Toy show and will be back on the radio on Wednesday. So he is actually working.

In what other company only RTE could you be failing so miserably in your job, and still be allowed go working for a rival company whenever it suits them?

His contract is up for renegotiation next year, so expect to see a lot of these "a well place source" articles in the coming months. There was one the mail last week.

If Tubs was getting a descent wage at BBC, he would be gone in a shot. His last book was all about great Irishmen like himself conquering Britain.

I would love to know what wage he is on at BBC in comparison to RTE. He should be offered the same wage or something near competitive at RTE. It might give him the boost to go out and fulfill his true potential at the BBC ;)

There isn't a full-time position for him at BH right now anyway, so all he gets paid for is fill-in work. He could be on more hourly but that's as it's irregular and during holiday times.

I'm sure it's a difficult decision for the BBC alright...

"Che-aps, I've been casting my eye over this ye-oung Irish lad. He's a bit of an intellectual. Or at least it says so, on one of the 14,000 copies of his CV that we have received through her majesty's mail service. How are his figures looking on the radio show he has in Eire"..

He's not on this week so presumably a "mid term break" doesn't count as "proper" holidays in his mind.

Was trying to listen to something else on 2fm from Friday and landed on tubridy and the kids quiz before 9am and it's actually not the worst. Tubs does his best with the bit he had to do.

Just switched over at random, and he has a lady on, describing with admittedly great courage, a sexual assault in her home.

Is this guy trying to drive the whole country into the depths of despair or what?

It's just as much of a depressing mismatch as the late late. I don't blame TeleTubby for this though, it's prevalent throughout RTE, from John Murray through Duffy. The whole organisation exhibits a predilection for misery porn.

Was in the car late for work this morning and stumbled on this bit of the show - It was hard listening. Its a pity for the girl - was her name given?

A really sick story and you would hope they find the fcuker that done that and give him a slow painful death!

It's in hand, Tubridy is calling round to his house tonight to break both his legs.

It wasn't a sexual assault in her home...it was in Portugal, when she was only 20. the guy was never caught, and yeah, her name is Hazel Behan.

However, I have to say that the Indo has written an article that's ticking me off as I sit here. They applaud her bravery, as I would anyone who has suffered sexual abuse or rape.

But they intially described her as ' gorgeous' which to me, in an article about rape or sexual assault, is creepy and completely unwarranted. It reinforces the perception that rape is based on attraction.

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/radio/tubridy-floored-by-bravery-of-woman-sharing-her-harrowing-rape-ordeal-live-on-air-30921788.html

Initially, the article commented on her appearance...as in describing her as gorgeous. They have since ammended it to courageous. Bit disturbing, I made a comment on their site, which didn't appear, but they did edit the article.
