    I did not misquote tubridy. Why take offence to comments when you are equally willing to dish them out? Like everything with Tubridy there lurks an undercurrent of homophobia and sexism. He believes that a woman's place is in the home and has spoken of resurrecting the Calor Kosangas Housewife of the Year award. Tubridy this is not 1950s America with those good 'ol boys and that New England charm. If he thinks that irish models are heavier than than their competitors then what does he think of the average woman on the street? Why did he not step into Gerry's shoes and take on OT? If he was so keen to preserve the legacy he should have done the right thing or is it that he felt he would not be able to hold his tongue. We have produced some really world class models such as Alison Doody, Glenda Gilson and Celia Holman-Lee. Would he have the guts to make such a comment to their face? Pat Kenny made a faux-pas with his infamous comment to Dawn French but at least he made up for it in that he became party to some of the most extraordinary fashion extravaganzas the country ever saw in the late nineties.

    His continued references to "pipe-cleaner" seem to be homophobic. He has been accused of making homophobic remarks in the past so it is not surprising.

    Remember when you thought the man was the greatest talent on the air in this Country?
    If Tubridy is so rubbish why did BBC try to poach him during the summer to replace Wossie. How many other presenters could do a breakfast show, host a serious programme on radio one then mov on to replace gerry and this is without even mentioning his two chat shows or his book on jfk.who would ye have there ? marty whelan?

    I admit that i was tricked into believing that tubridy was going but be a star of irish radio and tv. However, he has been shown to be lacking in talent. I have admitted i made a mistake and apologised to poly, mrsdewinter, jonathonanon and jimmynokia, so please stop beating that drum.

    Ps: Has anyone else noticed that he is constantly talking about the titanic. Is this the subject for his latest book? It would suit him as he could gab away about irish-america, royalty + it is a very mor and safe area.

    How are pipe-cleaner and skinny guy homophobic terms? He refers to himself with those terms because he is skinny. How can anyone read anything else into that? I call my 13 year old son a pipe cleaner in jest because he's built like Ryan Tubridy, does that make me homophobic? I don't think so.

    Ghertial, I dont like Tubridy, but I dont think it's fair to call him homophobic... He was only making references to his own appearance, in that way that he likes to be selectively self deprecating about himself.. You should know from the guy at this stage, he says NOTHING controversial (or remotely interesting).. EVER..

    Gherital has seen the light like everybody else with tubs and has admitted he was wrong,in fairness he should be given some slack.
    There is only 2 tubbers fan left, no need to mention names lol...
    I was listening to him the last two days (not by choice) but he has got no better.
    I dont even go to the LLS thread anymore!

    Its great to see somebody is watching but fails to note when i actually last took part in the LLS thread. Its been months so where you get the idea im following him around is beyond me...:confused:

    anyway back on topic....

    I heard 10 minutes on the way to work this morning. If someone would be kind enough to point out ONE difference between Alan Partridge and Tubs it would be great????

    NOTE: the fact one is RTE's goldenboy who get's all the gigs and represents us on the international stage and the other is a fictional comedy character is not an acceptable answer...

    SOmething i've noticed....(and touched on before)

    When tubs takes over a show it's all "i'm going to make it my own" In this case he did, and the ratings dropped to a rediculous level, then they reverse that decision and actually try and carbon copy the Gerry Ryan show and it improves a little....
    The show has improved of late, when they stick to the ryan formula of get a listener on the phone and let them talk for an hour with the presenter saying "really" and "o god that must be awful" only letting themselves down when tubs goes off script with his "humour".
    For example this morning he described a minor dental procedure like he was in a japanese POW camp...it just sounded uninteresting...

    That was the most cringe-making moment yet on tubridy's LLS. I can just imagine dunphy saying "Oh that's mean". George must have felt like he was " being savaged by a dead sheep"

    Blame must lie with the marketing team at RTE trying to make him into something he's not - the ads and press releases calling Ryan 'spontaneous' and 'unpredictable' when in fact he is the exact opposite.

    We all know his love for 60's music and rat pack, and yet the music he plays on his show doesn't reflect this. He's lost his identity on 2fm.

    He should be back in his old slot on Radio 1, whilst John Murray should be fired out of a cannon into an active volcano moved to a different slot.

    Anyone agree (not the volcano part)?
