9vdc Relay

Anyone know where I could source a relay with a 9 volt DC coil, ideally with spade connectors or 8 pins + plug in base.

Something like this http://www.surplustronics.co.nz/shop/product-RL0260.html but located a bit closer to home than New Zealand, have tried Radionics and Farnell but they only seem to a have PCB mounted Relays which i would like to stay away from.

A 12V 8 pin (octal) plug in relay is a standard part.
Does it have to be 9V?

No, has to be 9v.

Bugger.
There is a 6V version (rare), but you'd need a dropper.
On the other had it may be quicker to em from Oz.

If the supply for the relay coil is 9v then a 6v relay will work, 39R resistor in series with its coil. The 6v relays take about 80ma so are 75 ohm coils in them. With 9v and 39 ohm in series with the 75 ohm coil its 114 ohms.

9 volt connected to this 114 ohms gives about 80ma`s or there abouts.

9v may possibly close a 12v relay also. But the above setup should work.

I think the coil resistance of that one is 32 ohm, so a 16 ohm resistor would work then. The resistor should be about half of the relay coil resistance to use a 6v one on 9v. So one third the voltage is dropped on the resistor and 2/3rd`s on the relay coil.

Whatever relay is going to be used, find out its coil resistance first.
