Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Processing Wise Which Works Best?

I've processed a few photos with a harsh look to them. I'm quite liking it but I'm not sure if other people would as it may just look rough to others. I'd like some opinion on whether you think it works or not- forget the photo for the moment, I'm after some feedback on the processing. I know on the harshly processed image there's some flatness around the mid left cheek that needs work, if you can look past that for the moment that'd be great. Many thanks for any advice/comments left.

I think the *rule* is sharpen men, soften women. In this case I think the rule fits the gender issue.

    Harsh it is for me.

Would say particular background doesn't work well with the processing of the soft version, so not really a fair comparison

Hmnn I hadn't thought of it like that. What background would have worked well with the soft version? It's a living room wall btw.

you'd need something that after processing would look similar to the harsh version, so dark or black background I guess

would probably be hard to beat the detail you're getting with the harsh processing

HaHa I think you're right. I had thought the harsh processing was best myself but the other half was adamant that soft was better so it threw me off.

Shows what I know. I picked soft. Though it's probably too soft. I think the other is too harsh. Maybe somewhere in between would be correct for my eye.

I'd like a 3rd option inbetween towards harsh.

    Definitely harsh looks more impressive.
It would be even better if he didn't look like a stuck-up, egotistical, angry person.
I've never understood why seemingly MOST posed pictures are posed in this fashion. Why do you people want to look like obnoxious jerks when they're getting their pictures taken?

Really? I don't see that at all. Yeah it's posed but he didn't try too hard, he's just looking out over a balcony. It's amazing what we can see and judge from a picture and the reality can be so much different. The reality here is that he's a fantastically sound guy- not at all like an obnoxious jerk! :D

Harsh, without a doubt. And if you can slightly darken...a tad, a touch. Not so much as to lose detail in the hair/forehead area on the right of topic's nog (as we look at it)

KH...to really land that photo I'd think to try and naturally measure the distance from the tip of white eyebrow on the subject's left (as we look) and crop to an extra 1 third of existing difference. If you have it on the shot.

i.e. shift your crop just a touch or two to the left of frame (if you've got the space on orig.).
