    The M3 badly needs something.

The M3/N52 junction would be ideal

    Even the Navan north N51.

    That would work

The ironically named M3 services station Mulhuddart is technically located on the N3 before it becomes M3! That's more of a suburban petrol station where local industrial estate workers get lunch rather than a long haul motorway driver stop off point IMO.

It's a complete disaster of a place. Absolute goldmine but they should never have got permission to build without junction upgrades outside it. Crazy it doesn't have a direct route back onto the N3 east too.
It's only saving grace is the pay@pump, if you can get a pump that there isn't a Vivaro sitting at with 5 lads eating rolls inside.

To get back on the m3 can be fun at times. Fingal couldnt care about the N3 as Its TII and i would say they are collecting good rates of the company that own it

Spare a thought for anyone going from there to Ballycoolin. It should never have been built without signals or a roundabout and double yellows both sides outside Goodwins. It's the station that's dragged lorries there and then won't let them park.

Strictly not even an offline MSA but McDonalds have gone to Bord Pleanala to appeal a refusal by Meath Co Co to build a new drive-thru at the M1 by the City North hotel entrance. I recall there is already a service station there in that location. ABP decision due next week.

Attempted to use Midway at Portlaoise on Saturday of August bank holiday on our way from Dublin to Cork and the queues were backed up from the roundabout on the west side of the southbound slip road so gave up and went back down the exit lane and stopped at Durrow instead (another way too small Supermacs plaza with the place overcrowded, queues and dirty tables everywhere). Granted it was a bank holiday weekend but I'm finding the Applegreen rest stops to be the only spacious stops and the Supermacs associated ones always too small for the demand that uses them.

We did use Midway on our return journey on Monday and I see the Applegreen petrol station there is well advanced along with a new Bakewell cafe. Surprised they didn't add a Burger King as part of the upgrade.

We'll have to see how long O'Breins last in there considering the Bakewell is a direct competitor. That BK might turn up yet.

Anyone know when the M9 services at J3a near Kilcullen is due to open? Dead handy one for me it's almost halfway between Kilkenny and Dublin!
Anything else stirring on the M9? Something between Waterford and Kilkenny would be very handy- was there something planned around Mullinavat?
Also a decent services around Kilkenny itself would be a goldmine- again was something mentioned for around the N10 link road-ring road vicinity but not sure if that is going anywhere...

What ever happened to the M9 Mullinavat service station that got the go ahead?

Some third party clown issued a planning objection to it in 2017. The objection it seems was withdrawn summer 2018. As stated in this article.

    https://www.kilkennypeople.ie/news/home/323052/planned-development-in-south-kilkenny-set-to-create-200-jobs.html

We havent heard anything else, if it has even started construction or not. So in summery it is the not fit for purpose planning process that has stalled it

Probably either Circle K or Applrgreen or rival. Each of these “objections” with services have been purely about protectionism.
Same thing rampant with objections to Lidl and Aldi by rivals. Using the planning process to do so

Ya surely it will be crazy to build one so close to an existing one. It would be something if it was on the opposite side of the motorway

Planning permission refused for this but they are appealing the decision as said it seems madness to build right across a small road from junction 14.
The company who put in the plans have acted for applegreen before so it seems it was to be a substantial apple green site.
It seems a large number of objections were put in to the development including the Lindon group who own J14.
With midway and the new plaza opening that area will be well serviced now , 3 big sites within 20 miles on the M7 and 4 if applegreen get this through.

    Within 20km more like it.

used the Kinnegad Plaza yesterday - it's not huge but it's fine for a quick stop. It is very close to the Enfield services though. No official signage but plenty of billboards in adjacent fields on the approach to the junction.

I see Apple Green are building an upgraded Service Station/Area on the Swords Road between the Airport and Coolock Lane.

The fuel station in Midway Portlaoise is now open.

I'm currently looking at buying a house in Kildare Town and have been looking at planning files - Lindon came up as owning the lands overlooking the M7 Southbound at jct 13

I'd assume that this will be another one of their fuel stops.

Then applegreen are looking at eventually developing the old Donnelly mirrors site in Naas for a HQ and service stop.

It opened yesterday, except Burger King isn't quite ready.

Seen it myself over the weekend, seems it was quite abrupt. Their soft seat area is gated off but looking in, the perishable stuff is gone but all the crisps, drinks cutlery etc, were still in situ. Annoyingly the WiFi was gone. Most Applegreen have bitbuzz but not here.

Could do with upgrading the entry exit slips off the N7 for it as I think it’s pretty dangerous as it is

Burger King opening at Midway food court off Junction 17 on M7. Applegreen recently opened a petrol station there also.

Didn't I tell you 6 months ago. O'Breins out, Burger King in.
So that's now Subway, Bakewell, Chopsticks and Burger King in there.
The conversion from an independent food court into another Applegreen MSA is now complete.
