2 Deposits??

Hi Guys, I'm just wondering, is it normal that our new landlord asks for a deposit in may of 350 euro each from 7 of us (its student accom) and then we pay a months rent deposit each for the month before we move in? This is a 4410€ deposit, what do they think we're going to do?

You pay rent in advance, so you pay a month's deposit and a months rent up front.
