Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, bought the laptop bout three months ago.
After a few weeks its developed this problem where it keeps skipping back to the previous page as i browse the net.
Took it back and told the shop, they did a system reboot but still the same problem exists. (even wanted to charge me €50 for this)
Impossible to use at the moment.
    What are my rights?
    Thanks for the advice guys.

    Sounds like a software problem.

I would try another browser, but I take it you are not confident with software installation.

What is your home page? it could be a piece of software re-directing you to your homepage every time you try to access a different page, like a 'virus' but not as serious.

Try changing you home page and see if it still re-directs you to the new home page or the old one.

Do you have anti-virus? (try a free one like avg)

You could argue that the shop was in the right to charge you for the reboot as knowing how to do this is essential to the maintaince of your software.

If this is the only issue with the laptop, I don't see a warranty issue, it's more a support issue, where you can either lean on the shop or the support service number supplied with your laptop.

Im using google as my homepage.

I doubt the shop is in its rights to charge for a reboot as i only bought it six weeks before hand, i let them do the reboot anyway and then told them where to go when they asked for fifty quid.

I think its a more serious problem as even when i move the cursor the page may jump.

I recommend you pay €50 to someone who knows about browsers...once they fix it.

i was thinkin the shop should fix it for free like its only 3 months old surely the 12 month guarantee comes into play on this one

Are you experiencing this problem just while browsing the net, or in all other aspects of use (e.g. word, excel, watching a movie etc.)

This is a software problem not a warrenty issue.

Check the delete key is not stuck down, that would keep changing you browser page. There may be debrie underneath it.

Did you demonstrate how this was happening in the shop?

If it only happens when you are using Internet Explorer than using something else should fix the problem.

try booting into safe mode with networking to see if the issue still happens.

The only way this could happen with regards to hardware, is if the backspace button is stuck.

Software will not be covered by warranty. try downloading firefox or google chrome to see if the issue is still there.

Download malwarebytes too (free) and see if it gets anything.

This sounds like a software issue rather than a hardware issue.

I'll move this to Computers & Technology. If you don't get a resolution there, feel free to get it moved back to Consumer Issues.

    Try a different browser http://www.google.com/chrome

It also sounds like it may be a mouse/trackpad problem. Try the browser first though and we will cross that bridge if we come to it.

My brother had a similar issue with his Dell laptop (brand new) and IE. I installed Firefox and Chrome as alternate browsers - the problem persisted.

It was down to the sensitivity of the touchpad, which needed to be changed.

Yes that is along the lines I was thinking. In my case having horizontal scrolling enabled would make Firefox go mental so I just disabled it.
