I got the irish times, am I a bit late? :D

I was looking through the level 7 courses and the course I got says it was 350 this year and 395* last year, yet on the qualifax website it says it was 330* last year. Is the irish times wrong, misprint?

Believe it or not but I was going for that one first, then went for the "trendy" option. Shame on me...

Right so I got my first choice and accepted it online and then I got an email saying that had received my acceptance. Is that all I have to do so?

Reposting this from the other thread:

I read this in the CAO supplement of today's Irish Times:

"You can accept the course you have been offered and hope the college will attempt, in round two, to clear all those in random selection"

This is in relation to the situation I am in whereby I have the required points for my first choice but have missed out due to random selection.

Does this mean that separate from places coming available due to people not accepting their offers etc. the college itself tries to accommodate those who missed out as a result of random selection? (Perhaps by increasing the places available on a course or whatever)

Say if a person had been unlucky enough not to get a 1st round offer due to random selection. If place became available in 2nd round offers does this mean that person would have a better chance of an offer ?

If places become available in round 2, they will be allocated to those who missed out on random selection in Round 1.

If there are enough places to go round on those who missed the first time, everyone gets a place, otherwise it could be random selection (lottery) again.

That would be nice and all but I can't really see that happening, particularly not in a recession.

I think those of us that got screwed by RS will just have to hope that enough people decide to reject or defer

    hey guys,
I accepted and offer for Pharmacology in UCD which is part of the science programme. I was wondering if it would be possible to change course from Pharmacology to Physiology/Neuroscience since I want to do medicine as a graduate.

    Any advice?

Talk to your programme office as soon as you get to UCD.

Internal transfers are often allowed - you'd need to have the points for your desired course though.

Pharmacology would also be very useful in grad med given the large amount of biochemistry you'd cover. But Hotaru's right ask the course office

    is it defo 415?
    callaway92 wrote: »
yup, in Limerick it is anyway.

It's 415* though, which means even if you got 415 it's a random draw out of the people who got 415 to get into the course.

    You get enough?

Business in UL - 385 pts

Arts in UCC - 350 pts

I gave several warnings in threads over the weekend that I would come down like a tonne of bricks on anyone giving "confirmed" CAO results who turned out to be bull****ting.

I've only gotten round to checking now, but I can't say I'm surprised that callaway92 turned out to be one of those trolls.

Honestly, how low can some people go?

    Permabanned from LC.

Knifey did that at the time.

And he got a temp siteban from one of the admins when it was brought to their attention.

FFS, that was disasterous, thank **** I have a laptop and could close the lid. Firefox remembered the link and the next day when I opened it it opened the page when I was going to show my mother the offers. Give that ****er a perma ban.

Yep, she was right about my course, and I checked several of her other predictions; dead on with every single one.
