Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We are totally lost, once we went 2 down we gave up. Young needs to be played wide with Ireland playing behind the striker and petrov and a strong ball winner in the middle.

Kevin Mc is obviously a nice lad but I think we need proven experience in charge.

I thought he was good last Monday too actually, bar one error he had Valencia in the pocket all night. He was outstanding last year, better that Nolan for sure

Been saying it for a long time. He's been consistently our best player, going back as far as the season we were relegated.

Great pace, reads the game well, and isn't a defender who just likes to play hoof ball.

Probably should have been a penalty.

    Attempts:

    Newcastle 10
    Aston Villa 2

    On Target:

    Newcastle 9
    Aston Villa 0

    Sounds about right! :)

Worst Villa performance for many years.

I dunno, Chelsea and Liverpool have boxed your ears a couple of times between them the past two years.

Yes but they are actually good teams, I can't see Newcastle scoring 4 against anyone for the rest of the season.

Maybe from a Newcastle point of view but Villa shouldn't be absolutely hammered like that against a team who just got promoted and made almost no signings.

    NOLAN!!!!!!!!
Great stuff lads, solid result against a top 6 team.
Playing mind games now with Beye coming on too

    :)

Maybe not, but I think they'll give all of Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Liverpool and Spurs a right game at this stadium.

I think it's the big thing that separates Villa from the other contenders. They have a propensity to let all the wheels come off the wagon in a given game. For all Liverpool's disaster, they don't get beat by four or five goals.

    Newcastle for Top 4 ;)

Seriously though Villa look terrible today - missing Milner badly today. Ireland has been rather quiet and the defense all over the shop!!!

That's a bit misleading to be fair. They went down with a lot of solid Premiership starters. A backbone of Smith, Barton and Nolan puts them ahead of the curve. They had bad coaching and boardroom stuff floating around the place two years ago.

Welcome to the jungle Villa fans. Carroll deserves that I think, super individual performance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 910 ✭✭✭PauloConn

That is just brilliant. Carroll with the hat-trick, 6 goals. Good work Xisco for picking him out.
Great day, long may they continue

There isn't a superlative in the world adequate for that "performance".

Full credit to Newcastle, they took their chances and were by far the better side.

    Storm ahoy.

Villa gave up after the third. Out muscled all over the park.

I remember asking about Carroll last season, I think I was wondering if he was Irish...

Carroll scores 3 and sets up one. 2 of the goals were decent, one outstanding. Team of the week performance Craig who?

Good man Carroll, single handedly rescuing my weekend in FF!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Well there goes any chance of Kevin McDonald getting the job on a full time basis. Villa provided nothing in that second half when you'd expect them to try and make the scoreline a bit more respectable.

Great performance. Carrol was outstanding, as was Gutierrez and Enrique. But to honest, not one Newcastle player played badly.

And the best thing about it all is that now, those bloody taches go as well.

Mentioning about the Barton/Newcastle shaving thing.Said that both sides will need razers tonight.Villa for more sinister purposes.

Thought it was quite low tbh
