Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. City to win 6-0

Mancini will play for a draw.

The starting 11 is already known.

    Reina
    Johnson-Carra-Skrtel-Aurelio
    Masch, Poulsen,
    Kuyt
    Gerrard--Jovanovic
    Torres

With Jones, Agger, Soto, Maxi, Lucas, Pacheco, NGog or Babel on the bench I shall guess.

I have a feeling Liverpool will edge this one. I thought they were impressive against Arsenal.

Mancini obviously doesnt know what hes doing with yaya at CB and Toure at Defensive mid :pac: I think it will be a draw entertaining one though

Anyone feel free to tell me why this won't be a 0-0 draw.

oh and it will be interesting to see whether mascherano plays given the latest rumours about his barcelona transfer.

I don't know how I feel about this one, but I can't remmeber looking forward to non united game this much so early in the season before.

I think this is the perfect time for Liverpool to go to city if it was later on in the season I would fear for them getting a bit of a hammering.

I'll go 1-1 torres with a late equlisier

Mancini thinks Balotelli could be better than Torres

Should spice things up for tonight!

    I'd guess -

    Hart

    Richards
    Toure
    Kompany
    Lescott

    De Jong
    Yaya
    Milner
    Barry

    Silva

    Tevez

Subs: Given, Zabaleta, Wright-Phillips, Vieira, Johnson, Adebayor, Jo/Balotelli.

We will crush City, see them driven before us, and hear the lamentations of their women.

I'd take another draw to be honest :o

Not confident in City at all at the moment, its gonna take a few weeks, or months to get them going properly. 2 really tough opening fixtures ain't helping too. You can tell people are just waiting for them to fail, and even if they don't, they will find criticisim somewhere.

A draw wouldn't be the worst result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

As a United fan, I`m really looking forward to this one. Any result will make me happy, City lose - happy, Liverpool lose - extrememly happy. Draw - even happier.

Hard one to call. City still need time to gel and Liverpool looked rock solid against Arsenal last week but with the home advantage I`ll go for City.

Mancini better play to win tonight considering this is at COMS. Two strikers and a more attacking approach please.

6 nil either way. Too close to call.

Is Mancini really going to play Barry, De Jong and Yaya together?

A huge game for both teams... Can see it being tight and uninspiring stuff, but with Liverpool to shade it. City will play as the pack of superstars. Liverpool will play as a team. That will be the difference.

Suits me fine if they play the way they did last year;)

Liverpool to go 6-0 up only for City to pull it back in the last 10mins with Carragher scoring 5 OG's and Gerrard the final one.

Can't see past a City win here. Jesus looking at some of the names in their squad if they got a decent manager and started playing like a team they could walk this league. 2-1 City.

The same could have been about Spurs v City last week and Spurs were the better side. A bit of perspective like, we're not Wigan.

Looking forward to this match. Lets hope both teams really go for it but cant see it happen. Would be good to see city play a bit more attacking at home.

    Hart

    -Richards--Toure--Kompany--Lescott-

    Yaya
    DeJong

    --Johnson
    Milner
    Silva----

    Tevez

Am looking forward to this one,

If that is the Man City line up i'd be siding towards Liverpool, City were terrible against Spurs.

I'm more interested in a Liverpool win anyways, want to see how much patience the sheik has.

I predict a nil-nil, both teams too scared to loose at this stage of the season.

I think liverpool will win this possibly 2-1. I hope it is at least a good football game but 3pts ( one at least ) anfield bound at the final whistle will do nicely indeed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    5-1 City.

Balotelli to come off the bench, score 3 and punch the ref as a celebration for his hat trick and get sent off and banned for the rest of the season.

    Love if City played;

    Hart

    -Richards--Toure--Kompany--Lescott-

    Yaya
    De Jong

    --Johnson
    Silva---

    Balotelli
    Tevez

Is Balotelli fit for tonight? The BBC say he is expected to play. Going to be a great game. i'd go for 2-2.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭Smegball

    1-1

Tevez to open the scoring and a 80th minute Torres equaliser.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,066 ✭✭✭Washington Irving

2-0 Liverpool. Gerrard to score in the 28th minute, before Reina saves a penalty on the stroke of half time after a Carra hand ball. Then a 78th minute goal from Torres with an unsuccessful 12 minute onslaught from City, during which Balotelli, DeJong and Carragher get sent off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,048 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

I just hope Yaya has the game of his life and Tevez scores a few own goals and gets sent off.

Got to reclaim my top spot in my fantasy football league.

    ..during which Balotelli..get sent off

At which point he throws his shirt off, declares his love for Unireh and gets punched by Adam Johnson whilst having difficulty getting out of the car park..

    Maybe.

    Just saw Liverpool team -

    Reina,Carragher,Skrtel,Agger,Johnson,Lucas,Kuyt,Gerrard,Jovanovic,Torres & ngog.

So this must be Roy's first choice 11? Surprised Lucas is in ahead of Poulsen

The lack of Mascherano makes me happy.

Rumours of a 4-4-2 line-up for Liverpool with Masch "refusing to play". Doubt it's true but this rumoured line-up won't get anything from this game imo.

    Reina
    Johnson - Carra - Skrtel - Agger
Kuyt - Lucas - Gerrard- Jova
    Ngog, Torres

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

From a City or Barca perspective?

City most definitely as it kills the 'hard man' presence in their midfield. De Jong and Yaya, if both play, should have the physical advantage in there.

I don't think Barca even need him, but that's for a different thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I think Milner might make Mancini's system work :) Him in the middle, with two of three of Barry, Yaya and De Jong. Silva, Balotelli and Tevez/Adebayour up front could work.

    Poulsen bites as well. Apparently.

This could be an ugly game!
