Main Street, Clondalkin Village

yes the little main street of clondalkin village.

a few months ago there i saw a guy sitting in the middle of the road in a queue of traffic wait for the lights to change to go.

as the guy was sitter there in traffic another older guy was squeezing to the left of him trying to get by him.

as they were both along side each other the older guy in the car on the left trying to under take shouted out his window "theres two lanes ya gobsh*te"

but i looked at the road.... i dont see any markings or signs to say that it is two lanes, only that it separates at the lights at the end of the road.

now if you try hard enough two cars will fit down the road but only very very close to the lights (pretty much where they begin to widen and separate.)

but for the entire road you can only fit one bus down with nothing along either side.

anybody know if it is one or two lanes ?

i really think myself its only one lane.

It was originally a 2 way street, but that is absolutley donkeys years ago. I think it's fair to say it's safely wide enough for 1 car, but if there's room to let other people pass, people should do so.

I guess if there's room for 2 lanes then it is two lanes. Common sense dictates that we make the most of the available roadspace.
