should i? is there any point?

Just move up Sunday and go to orientation with your friends and drinking/socialising afterwards. And if you're hardcore you can then go to your own orientation on Wednesday aswell. I went up the Sunday night on my own and ended up meeting loads of people.

will you be allowed? You wont be on a list of names or anything like and they'l miss you if you dont show up for your own

I agree on coming there on sunday. I start second year and I'll come back on Sunday (though that's because the ticket was cheap). I haven't done much socialising this summer in Sweden, so it'll be real fun to be back at a place were people actually talk to one another (you don't realize how cold people here are until you move abroad I guess).

Yeah you're allowed. Ye are all students of the college afterall. Trust me you'll be fine. Be good craic with your friends aswell. Alternatively you could sleep while they're at it or use the gym or look around the place yourself, get talking to randomers. There's lots to do and see.:)

I only live in Naas so its not too bad! Theres a good few buses and it's only about a 40 minute drive!

Yeah commuting from Naas is okay...except you have to live by the tyranny of last-bus-home-is-at-six; it's a real barrier to goin to club/soc meetins and such.

Please, I have a 45 min commute every day from Allenwood, and because of the messed up transport system of this country, I have to get the 7:30 shuttle bus everyday, even though by the look of the provisional timetable, I'm not ever in before 12!!

Does anyone know of a bus that goes from the Allenwood/Naas/Newbridge to Maynooth that doesn't leave at silly-o-clock in the morning, and doesn't go via dublin?

Never mind my little rant. Found a better timetable on the Maynooth transport download thing.

I thought there was only one bus I could get, but there's loads at different times, and not just at 7:30, so I'm happy

Yeah I rang up ages ago and the lady even told me where I'm staying and all. It's getting rather late now though considering we're supposed to fork out, what, like €2000 or something by Monday or whenever!

Oh well I'm not fully sure if there is a letter I just thought I heard someone mentioning it....

I didn't know where I was or anything till today, I finally got pissed off, which seems to be the only thing that works, the e-mail arrived half an hour later :P I got 2 e-mails at once, one saying I've to pay the deposit by this friday and the other saying I've to pay the rent for the 1st semester also by this friday...

Yikes! By Friday?! I bet I'll get the email Friday morning then or something stupid! :P They should've given us more of a warning, it's not like we're all rolling in money to be able to pay it in 2 days!

I just payed the deposit over the phone, they said I can wait a week to pay the rest so that's something...

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭Rafcam

Ah okay that's not too bad. It's probably because they realise the emails are very late.
