    Hi,

I am looking to purchase 6 (give or take 1) computers and monitors for my business. They should be capable of running Window XP and come with all accessories (i.e. keyboards, mouse etc) if possible.

I was thinking I might get them through a liquidation sale somewhere in Ireland but so far I've struck out finding a sale with enough computers to make it worth my while.

If anyone knows where i would get these or even a friendly suggestion, it would be greatly appreacited.

    :)

ebay is probably the cheapest place to pick them up right now ,if you have a big enough budget you can haggle with dell but they expect big numbers before they give decent discounts

my boss has a business contract with them and he has teamed up with a few sister companies in the uk so they would be able to haggle a better deal of dell

You could try these guys too...

... they sometimes have Irish liquidation sales. You'll need to register to bid though.

I've just started researching liquidation sales and have come up with a couple.. try liquidation.com or uk-liquidation.co.uk. They are in the UK but you can arrange your own shipping.

You might be better off buying new - old pcs are false economy -
And presumably you can do a vat write off on new ones (as well as getting warranty)

take a look at as an example

Or this if you want to go low end

And I think you would probably get cheaper around the place - if you check komplett/elara/dabs etc.
Also ask prices for desktops with no operating system (presumably you have an xp license)

If you are determined to get something in a liquidation sale - then I would suggest buying bare bones pcs still new - and looking for good deals on the externals - such as TFT monitors in the liquidation sales.

To be honest I have to agree with richard.

First thing I would do is sit down decide what you want and price it. I would use amazon to get an indication of prices. Then I'd go to komplett etc and price up - they may even give discounts for the 5 as require.

As an aside I bid on a a compaq pressario desktop on uk-liquidation this morning. The site suggested the rrp was £499 sterling, I checked on amazon and found one for sale for £340 (with windows 7), I bid up to £190, I was outbid by someone who bid £391 plus 5% bidders fee, plus £20 P&P, plus the PC needed a copy of windows - a mug in my book!

The point being the auction sites are not always where the bargains are to be had, but if you know the value of something there are bargains to be had.

    Hope that helps
