We do appreciate your patience - and your feedback to date.

    Current Status:
The development team is currently investigating, going through feedback, and looking at reported issues.

Looks brilliant, all the circuits are very much exact. Plays well, handling and understeer modeling in the game is good.

One thing that really is bothering me tho is LAP TIMES!!!
Were the feck are the fecking LAP TIMES!!!!!! ie no record of your fastest laps(game doesnt save) except in time trials. No fastest lap information at the end of races!!!!???

Also in the race theres v little lap time info apart from current and best???
how about Lap time, +/- from fastest lap, gap to car in front etc. seems to be very light on info(dont they know this is an essential part of racing????)

Also on the Lap time Time Trials leaderboards, it has your best lap, friends list compared and global...... and then >>>> and a cog symbol WTF IS THIS!!!!!
I have no clue what this means? cog..something to do with gears??? >>>>???!!!! where is the realistic flags, t/c Abs, flashback y/n, clean lap, Aero tow y/n icons info???!!!!

This is poor 'super-lite' info given to fans of the game/sport:mad:

When they develop a patch for this will it be for PC and both consoles or just PC?

TBH the game is quite annoying in its current state and want to know if I can look forward to an improvement.

I'd say it will be all formats!

I haven't really experienced any of the bugs, the pit stop one got me once. To stop it from getting me I alter the recommended race strategy and then pit a lap later or earlier when on track.

There is an annoying glitch online where it says you did a ridiculous fast lap.

They really need to fixed the information on the hud though, really annoying that they don't have time to and from the car in front and behind.

That is really annoying but the one that gets me the most is HRT, Virgin, Lotus lapping several seconds faster then their qualifying time and also lapping faster then race leader quite often. Makes it impossible to race against your team mate in those cars when you have to struggle with a full tank of fuel.

Absolutely ridiculous. How it ever got released in this state is a complete disgrace.

Forgot about the fuel simulation bug... I turned off fuel simulation to make it fair on me until the patch gets released!

There is supposed to be fuel simulation in career mode but apparently there is a bug which causes A.I. cars to be unaffected by fuel loads and allows them to lap similar if not faster than qualifying laps in the race.

I dunno if you are playing it too easy, not sure if fuel simulation setting changes depending on difficulty.

I play on expert and get hammered in lap times for first half of every race but manage to claw it back in 2nd half.

The game is far too easy imo.
While im still enjoying the races in the game its just too easy.
Im in season one with 3 races to go and i cant be beaten in the championship, ive won 8 races and podiums on the rest.
The podium ones were simply a lapse in concentration due to boredom while out infront on my own.
Im running the Lotus, expert settings all aids off and legendary ai, i simply shouldnt be beating the pants off the top teams.
I was looking forward to a career fighting ' the back of the grid to start off and work my way up.
Winning the championship by a country mile in a Lotus while playing the game at its most difficult settings is not exactly what id hope for.
I realise its not a sim and for someone used to the likes of the usual pc sims aswell as iracing its just far far too easy.
AI are far too easy to outbrake and that to me makes them easy to beat.
No im not the fastest of iracers either,im very much average and a lot slower than the top guys in iracing.

@Dcully, if you get a chance do you mind posting some of your typical lap times in qually and in the race for one or two circuits. I just want to see how far off the pace I am. I think I'm using the same settings as you (Lotus, expert mode, Legendary AI, G25 wheel on PC), but the only circuit I have any decent pace so far is Canada (got pole with a highish 1.17) and perhaps Istanbul. I've used the car setups from the racedepartment forums but I guess I need to practice more on each circuit.
I'm playing the circuits in season order, so I haven't driven on any race track after Canada yet.

Ill run some laps on @ montreal later on in the lotus with all aids off and post a few times for you.
One thing ive noticed is turning on tyre sim doesnt slow down the AI but does slow down the player, totally fcuked up system but the only way i can get a challenge in the game.
Initially people suggested turning of tyre sim and car damage to stop the scripted punctures, now i find i have to turn tyre sim on to get any sort of challenge.

OK just ran a practice session in the Lotus of Trulli for a few laps, all aids off legendary ai and took some screenshots.
Pretty consistent 1:15s dropped to 1:16s a couple of times.

Remember the performace of all cars are the same in time trial hence why i dont bother with time trial at all.
Ill run some laps later when i get time in one of the top cars to see what times they give.
Pity the game doesnt record you lap history and track best times like other games do.

Having loved playing the game , but hating a lot of the non - exsistant features (gap to car in front / behind, lack of saved fastest laps ect) and the very annoying lollypop man in the pits letting the whole feild past you before releasing the you from the pits, i decided to phone the number in the booklet for codemasters...

Was told that a patch for the game was going to be made but its contents are yet to be decided, i then asked for when they expected the patch to be released he told me a few months  he then argued with me about some of the things i noticed in the game (like telling me button was in front of me in the HUD display when it was a ferrari, transparent cars when you come out of the pits and rejoin the track, and the actuall cars on the track during Qualifying bug [which was confirmed by the game devloper was it not?]) he told me that he had played the game and that i was lying, when i got a bit angry at this he then told me this was all AI probrlem and not a game problem and wont be included in the patch, lol. He then procedded to tell me to either change my race stratagy + / - 2 laps for the pitstop, or lengthen the race distance or live with it!!!! Helpfull people at codemasters.

I brought the game back into gamestop and swaped it for the new fifa game (which is class) and was told that there are loads of people doing the same, very very disapointing because the gameplay is actually fairly good but it felt like a beta version of the game and really should not have been released!

@Dcully, thanks a mill much appreciated. Nice laptimes btw. I might concentrate on Montreal for now and start tweaking the car setup. I didn't realise time trial treated all cars equally, so I'll give that a miss too.

    No need for commentary:confused:.
If you wanna just go out in any car for a full season then go to the grand prix mode and do a full season.

I barely got a chance to play this at all. I only had a quick time trial to get used to the wheel, it all seems a lot more arcadey than I imagined and thats with all aids off and the hardest difficulty, you can floor it coming out of corners and lose no traction. The sense of speed from the cockpit view also isn't great.. Any news on a (PC) patch?

Had me first experience of the pit stop bug last night. Managed to Qualify 8th in a lotus thanks for a wet/dry qualifying session. Pitted still in 9th but was not released until all cars had passed by. AHHHHHHHH

Anyone care to put up some time trial lap times. Ive lost all interest in career mode as its so crap but wouldnt mind trying to get close to a few lap times by some of you guys.

If it makes a difference im playing it on the PS3.

Seen that a free practice time for canada was posted above i had a go but as i was in time trial mode there was bit of a difference. I got round in 1:14.475

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,854 ✭✭✭Beekay

Can't stand the time trial mode, if ya put a wheel off the track 4/5 corners from the end of a lap it invalidates that lap(which is fair enough) and the next lap...even though there is no way and advantage could have been gained!

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭Morninglory

I bought mine off the Internet site gamesnash I think it was. Would it still be possible for me to swop that for FIFA 11?

That wrecks my head too. Basically the entire game is rubbish, just thought id try some time trials until GT5 comes out.

Now cant decide whether to trade in F1 for GT5 or wait for the patch and hope they totally re-work the game.

Was that with all aids off and tyre/fue sim on?
Also in time trial all cars have the same performance unlike GP or career.

    Are you 100% sure?

I went around Spa two seconds quicker in the McLaren than in the Merc. I could have sworn it was easier to handle.

Yes 100% sure, this is to make it even for leaderboards etc or so condemasters have told us so God knows tbh.

If this was a proper sim running only a few laps with tyre sim on should not make lap times 3-5 seconds slower than when tyre sim off.
It seems its simply an on off button, faster times with tyre sim off then slower with tyre sim on regardless of how many laps run on the tyres, no in between, no gradual wearing of tyres BUT the AI will always run with tyre wear off regardless - total bull**** tbh and another example of the utter lies codies fed everyone with their pre release videos.

I like to run my racing sims/games with all aids off tyre wear on fuel usage on,damage on etc but this game is so fcuked up i have to turn fuel, tyre, damage off because otherwise i get punctures every race for sometimes 2 or 3, all scripted which makes it even worse.

What a shame because despite the not very sim like physics, all the flaws, it can be a very fun game to play.

I have it on the PS3 so the tyres and fuel are both off as far as i know, there isnt actually any option to turn them on or off as far as i can see.

Only driver aid was traction control as im using a regular control and having no traction control just means the car keeps spinning as soon as you press the button.

When starting a GP or any race in career there is an option for difficulty, select custom ,this allows you to manually select the individual aids,ai difficulty and sim options, then navigate down to tyre and fuel sim, they are on by default.

Rather stupidly there is a difference of about 4-5 seconds in the times between on and off, no such thing as gradual tyre wear  codemasters seem to think a 1 lap old tyre handles the same as a 30 lap tyre

Im already fed up of this game, its decent enough when you're just lapping in practice or qualifying but once you're racing you are so dominant due to the AI drivers using a massive braking zone etc. All the talk before release of "the most realistic game ever" and the like really was a load of hot air.

The problem with games like this is that they need to cater for a massive market-people with no interest in F1 but still buy racing games to the casual fans to the hardcore fans. The problem is that because hardcore fans are in such a minority it doesn't make it viable to cater a game solely to us, unless the developer makes the conscious decision to do so (GTR, IRacing etc.)

When this game came out I bought it expecting it to be great, believing the hype. Sadly I've been mistaken and yet again I've been bitten by another racing game that lives up to the low standards expected by casual gamers, but not the high standards that fans of the sport want a game to be

But previous F1 games were far superior to this game. Again they weren't perfect sims but I found the original F1 on the first PS, F1 '97 and F1 2006 very good games and really enjoyable with a lot of replayability.

This game however justs annoys more then anything else. They really dropped the ball on this one. You would expect that as the consoles get better, the games would too.

Meanwhile, the modders have been hard at work:

Tyre mod: Gives a realistic degradation on tyres

New Cameras: Adds a more realistic cockpit and TV camera

    Sidecam: The TV sidecam!

BBC F1 Intro: Adds the BBC F1 intro before the races

Car skin updates: Most cars have had skin updates on their cars. Nearly every team is there somewhere

Also, for anyone wanting to edit their own game, this thread can help you get started

I was playing this online for the first time and couldnt get over the dirty tactics of loads of people. Everyone was brake testing me anytime I got close to them! Got a load of 10 second penalties!
