    Ive been away from the programming world for a while and would like to get back into it.
    Ive chosen C# as a place to start as ive previously done C/C++.

    Anyone have any experience with books? Or free online tutorials?

    You should take a look at some of the videos at: http://windowsclient.net/learn/ and http://www.asp.net/get-started

    I've found Jesse Liberty's C# books pretty good in the past, this is a recent edition (though I think the up-to-the-minute C# 4.0 edition is just out);

    Other than that, grab a copy of Visual Studio Express and work away - if you've got a background in C++, C# won't present any particular problem. The MS sites Ronan_ linked to will provide good video tutorials on specific topics.

    What are you on about?

    No serious programmer relies on the web alone. A good book is an excellent resource.

    Web is a great resource but having a go to book is vital.

    Programming C# Components by Juval Lowy is very good. I don't know if there is a new edition though for NET 3.5 or 4.

    Ive just started on C# myself and I have ordered Head First C#...

    I got the Java version a few years ago and it was brilliant.. same with the HTML/CSS version...
