Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's been a week now since an abyssmal 30 minutes almost undid a full seasons hard work and now on Home turf there are no excuses we must to quote Saddam Hussein*: Now I will kill you until you die from it!
It's a must win game really in our hope to improve the squad and increase our prestige and ability to attract Top players but Young Boys** will have different Ideas and can not be underestimated as they were last week.

    I'd Like to see
    Gomes
    Kaboul--Dawson--King--BAE
    Lennon--Huddlestone--Palacios--Bale
    Keane--Pav

    RTE 7:45 KO

*As seen in Hot Shots Part Deux
**Warning likely to cause an incredible amount of inappropriate jokes

I really can't see Spurs letting that team dominate them like they did again for the first thirty minutes, especially at home.
As long as they are solid enough at the back they should be able to overcome the deficit, if they don't come through this then the whole team deserves a kick in the arse.
I presume Moric is out because having Palacios instead of him is pure madness to me, I would nearly start Kranjcar or Jenas instead.

I can't see Young Boys getting anything out of this match, would like to see spurs get on to the groups,i reckon their downfall in berne was arrogance......huddlestone is sh1te too

I think the reasoning behind putting krancjar on the bench, was having someone on the bench that could come in and influence the game positively if needs be.

Should be an interesting game, I'd expect Young Boys to start off in the same vein as last week, quick tempo and pressing the ball carrier followed by quick counter attacks.

Spurs need one of their strikers (Keane?) to drop off and help in midfield, both Defoe and Pav played too high up the pitch and were isolated for the majority of the 1st half, which also meant they offered no help to the already out numbered midfield.

    I reckon Spurs will progress.

    Spurs 2 - 0.

I think they will have learned there lesson and of course they have the chance to play on a real pitch and not make excuses.

Hope they progress though and make the group stages.

Spurs should win comfortably enough but I hope they get knocked out.

May as well get them in early:

Spurs are going to have a difficult job on their hands tonight, expect the Young Boys to struggle as Spurs look to come from behind. Once they do they will have to get on top of the Young Boys and maintain dominance over them for 90 minutes.

I hope, I really do that Totthenham will go through, it'll be a touch match, theres no doubting that, but at home I can't see anyone but Spurs going through to the group stages.

Is Keane fit to play tonight then?

I havn't really got the latest on injury news. Would love to see him play.

Last i heard on Defoe was that he could play this one and then have his op.

He'll have the operation after tonights game, he will miss a "few weeks" according to Redknapp.

On tonights game, it looks like Defoe may play the first half only.
    Redknapp wrote:
He's not trained a lot. When he has trained, he's been all right, he's been sticking goals in. But then he's had days off where he couldn't train. And he's getting worse, he's getting worse all the time. Sixty minutes is about as much as he can last.
    Redknapp wrote:
It might only be half a game he can last now, but it's getting less each time – the pain's getting worse. He can't go on like that.

That is the best team that Spurs could have put out for this tie. Lennon is thankfully starting and Bale is playing some great football. Spurs have this. 3-0 Spurs.

I'm hoping Spurs can really pounce on Young Boys, over-turn them and teach them a lesson

    Spurs Team:

    Gomes

    Corluka
    King
    Dawson
    BAE

    Lennon
    Huddlestone
    Palacious
    Bale

    Defoe
    Crouch.

While i'd love to see Young Boys win this i can't see past Sp*rs beating them comfortably. They had their chance at home and blew it unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,046 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

No better feeling than giving young boys a good spanking, still it wouldn't be that surprising if spurs bottled this

Don't like the selection of the strikers. I think Keane and Pav are the more suitable strikers for this game.

would have thought Keane would have started ,he mite have helped out more in midfield.Pav was one of the worst players on the pitch last week bar his goal he was useless.

RTE spelled the Spurs manager's name as "Rednapp". Sad that nobody there knew how to spell his name correctly.

Well, based on Fabio Capello's appaling decision to not bring Darren Bent to the World Cup, sadly it seems like it is a bad thing.

Hope the conditions don't have too much of an effect here tonight,

Come on the early goal for Spurs!

Love to see Spurs go through. Really enjoyable team to watch playing football with some really nice "footballers". Huddlestone when on his game and fully fit is a joy to watch.

Spurs really punished the young boys there. Lack of discipline at the back let Crouch score!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭adamski8

young boys look like they're only learning how to play with themselves

    What a great finish,

    Quality Striker

Edit: Handball there, defender seemed to stop for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

Hand ball... FFS I'm sick of the amount of goals recently from hand balls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

2-0 Defoe, clear handball by Defoe in the buildup to control the ball.

Gomes wants to come off, I wonder why they haven't subbed him yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 959 ✭✭✭pablodunlop

    Cracking finish but clear handball!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

Looks like Defoe learnt something from all of those years playing against Henry
