Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    HI,

When I have my chain in the low chainring (39) and on the high gears on the rear cassette (11, 12, 13) my chain is rubbing of the higher chainring (53) is there any way of sorting this out with adjustment or will I have to change the crank/chainrings to a better quality (Currently have crappy FSA Vero)

You're not supposed to do that, it's called cross-chaining. Some groupsets have a front derailleur trim function to prevent it, but you'd still be using a wonky chainline.

Almost everyone's chain will rub in those extreme gear combinations.

Thanks for that, I'd never heard of cross chaining before, you learn something new every day.

I'd say there are 2 things to consider here:
    1. Using low-low or high-high (or close combinations) is not to be recommended. It puts undue stress on the chain and gears leading to excess wear
    2. Should the chain rub? I'd say using the 3rd highest cog at the back and the smallest chainwheel on the front is hardly extreme use. As above, it will be better to use a different combination to achieve the same gearing, but should the chain rub in this gear? The answer is no
