Doodz, I think ye've got yer wires crossed...

I feel guilty for thanking a post by you where you state "I regularly am a cunt" but that's not the bit I'm thanking (you're lubbly). :o

Heh, I'll raise ya this: :pac:

Yeah, I don't think of vagina when I say it, or faecal matter when I say "sh1t" or sexual intercourse when I say "f*ck(ing)" or penis when I say "dick". These are just expletives that add a bit of colour. And I certainly wouldn't subscribe to any misogyny notion linked with the word "cunt", especially when it is regularly (possibly moreso) used in reference to males.

Had forgotten about that episode; that actually says all that needs to be said on this matter. :D
    Sorry about the multi-posting. :(

I have never heard the word used as much since I came to Australia. Its used as much as mate or champ. Everyone is a C.nt over here!

    You have; fair enough.
I haven't, and would find it ridiculous if i did; outside of a professional context, or, in the unlikely event, that either of those words came up in conversation with someone who i wasn't friends with/didn't know their form.
I'm not about to read the charter.
I'm guessing those words can be used without the user incurring a ban.
I'm also guessing that that's is only when they are used within context; when referring to the words, in and of themselves.

I think you should consider reading the charter before you talk sh1te.

I'm guessing that if i were to throw them around in reference to other posters, i'd be banned fairly sharpish.
Which goes back to the point i'm making, regarding context.

That would fall under 'personal abuse' and is pretty intuitive.

    Fair enough.
I'm not looking to start an argument; was just responding to your point regarding the topic at hand.
    Think i'll read the charter.

Doesn't bother me as much as men using "bird" to refer to women

But would you prefer us men to call women b1tches and ho's? Thats what men in the hood in America call their women...Bird is a much nicer word:D

I lol at people who abbreviate any word in reference to it. I instantly know that we just would not get along whatsoever.

    'The C-word'
    'The N'-word'

Or refer to it as 'the word' or 'that word'.

    Ridiculous shit.

In fairness, the latter term is pretty crude and it is the only word I would abbreviate. I cringe when I hear other people use it.

Have no problem using cunt, bollox, dick, e.t.c.
It's just that one word which I find vile.
It reminds me of another great CYE scene which I shan't post for fear of offending anyone.

Words are only as bad as we make them out to be, I have a black friend that calls me a nígga, and he is ok with it, why shouldn't I be?

i dont like when people use the word **** to describe someone being an asshole, and i never use it in that context. but i like to use the word to refer to vaginas and in fact much prefer it to the word vaginas [which comes to down to meaning 'sheath' -THAT i find offensive!]
though i still wouldnt use **** in front of my mom or a doctor...

No need for such a torrent of derision to descend upon the original poster; she was merely stating her opinion regarding the use of a certain word and how her reaction to it can vary depending on the source.
Actually could have been an interesting thread; is a word really just a word, a collection of letters, or something more?...

Words have meaning; that's why we use them to communicate.
A word is just a word but it's also more than that; people react differently to, and take different things, from different words.

Words don't really have meaning though, with the exception of onomatopeic words they have absolutely no real relationship to their referent, we could change the word "book" to "bottle" and it wouldn't change how closely the word is related to what it refers to. They acquire meaning from what we have learned they refer to, and if you (not you personally) think that a word which refers to a vagina is inherently more offensive than any other word then you may have vagina issues. If you think that that word is inherently more offensive when it comes out of a woman's mouth then I don't even know what issues you have.

It is a harsh sounding word, but so is fuck, so is prick, nobody seems to have the same fanny attack over them, so I don't think it's anything to do with the sound of the word. Cunt cunt cunt, fun to have, fun to say :D

"I want you in my ****."

Is there anything more romantic a girl could whisper in your ear?

    Answer: no.

You should be ok with it; who said you shouldn't?
    You're talking to your friend.
Now transport yourself back to, say, Alabama, in 1910, quantum leap style; you're walking along the road, you see a black guy you don't know, and you say 'Hey, Nigga!"
Let's say he had just seen his brother being lynched for being a 'nigga', or ******, as it would've been put back then; it's fair to say that he would have a different reaction to the word, and would regard it in a different light, than you and your friend do now.
Who are the 'we' that decide that certain words are only as bad as 'we' make them out to be?
There's no 'we'; you make your mind up, and do what you want to do.
You can use any word you want to, whenever you want; just don't presume that everyone should take whatever word you use the way you want them to at any given time.
Not to jump on you; this kind of crap fuels many a thread on here.
And i'm not part of the much derided 'PC Brigade', whatever that means, it's just basic ****ing common sense. Jesus.

its just a word. an invention. four letters. how can you be so sexist as to who can and who can't use it. if anything, it's theirs to use. dont try to take it away from them.

I made a ninja edit to include the line about you having the option of reporting the post - I didn't remove anything from the original post.

You have a lower post count and I wanted to let you know you can report the post if you think it breaks the rules - that's is all. I was being helpful.

    oh right. thanks

i was thinking i had a mod on my tail after 20 posts, that just couldnt be a good thing :)
