Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is incredible. How can a team that's so in control of a game suddenly become so bad?

Villa, Villa, who the f*ck is Villa! There'll be some party in Birmingham tonight, super showing from Rapid.

Long ball football now, Collins standing up front.

Slightly off topic, but Ray Houghton has to be the worst commentator on telly.

Villa's last two games have really shown how poor we (West Ham) are having been convincingly beaten by them on day one :(

Villa have been the better team. Created way more chances. Little shakey at the back. Know where my money is!

To be honest I felt that WH pretty poor during that game alright. Felt we couldn't take too much from that one.

Do you think we have been awful going forward and created nothing?

Sorry for asking an obvious question (i couldn't be arsed reading through all this thread) but didn't Rapid Vienna knock Villa out last year too? Its a pretty shocking indictment of English football, given that Villa's squad is primarily made up of English players.

It isn't really an indictment of anything to be honest.

So annoying. We were the better team throughout but didn't create enough chances and stupid mistakes at the back cost us.

It's more a shocking indictment of Villa, to be honest.

That doesnt matter, we were too sh1t to put the ball in the back of the net.

    Thats what matters.

Great result, fingers crossed Rapid can draw Villa every year! :D

Here's hoping for a decent draw now in the group stages too.

Ah I agree we were poor but at least I thought the Midfeild created chances with NRC in there compared to been totally overrun against Newcastle

Why do you care about Villa's misfortune?

You reckon Randy Lerner could convince Deano to put back on his scoring boots?

I think it is. A team from the Austrian league beating the sixth best English team two years in a row.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

Beye and Davies were poor. I didn't think anyone else played particularly badly although Guzan could have done better for 2 of their goals.

Ireland faded for a while but overall played well.

I'm guessing he's a Vienna fan, not so much a anti villa fan.

What's with the two tricolours in the Vienna supporters? Is there some Irish link there?

 Because it was inflicted by Rapid, a team i have a strong affection for, that all right?

Rapid fans still going at it there during the after match interviews as loud as ever.

Didn't see them but possibly weren't tri colours and just flags with those colours, have seen tri colours before in their support though so could've been, no Irish link with them really.

One bright point was Albrigthton. He impressed when he came on I thought.

Vienna's star player has signed for the Rangers, Nikica Jelavic. As a result of this result 2nite, Jelavic cannot play Rangers in CL. Im assuming Rapid are aligning themselves to Celtic to get it up Jelavic. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Jelavic refused to play for them last week and it was a bitter transfer as he forced his move through to Rangers.

Why? Would be fairly odd thing to do, some Rapid fans had union jacks when playing Celtic last year and neither club is very fond of each other thanks to an incident in the past in Europe.
