Are they ready to be dug up?

I had planted it late as this is the first year I have been growing stuff. I had planned to dig them up around the middle of September, they are Rooster I think. If left in the ground how low down should I cut the foliage?

    Thanks.

    Hi
no not ready to dig up.. flower on top just have set baby spuds below..
why cut them back? if leaves are green then there is no need to cut them back.. more green leaves makes more food makes biggger potatoes..
how late did you sow them?
they are safe enough in the groudn till christmas..unless they get blight..
