Network restriction codes for upgrades?

    Hi,
    A friend of mine is with Vodafone (billpay) and is entitled to a free upgrade (which she doesn't want).

    She is willing to give it to me, but I'm on the Meteor network, so i'm assuming the phone won't work with my sim.

    Does anyone know whether she is entitled to the network restriction unlock codes straight away or will she have to wait until the end of the new contract she will have to sign up to to get the phone?

    They normally give the unlock code straight away for bill phones.
