Celbridge Tidy Towns are doing a funraising collection on the main st in Celbridge around mass times this weekend. Please support and help keep Celbridge tidy. Around €15,000 keeps us going each year, the biggest expense being the grass cutting on the approach roads to the town. We contract out this grass cutting and receive €4,000 from KCC towards it, the yearly bill usually comes to between €9,000 & €10,000.

From one of the Celbridge Tidy Towns volunteers:-

After the very positive response I received as a collector for the
Celbridge Tidy Towns last Sunday I was brought back to grim reality on
Wednesday when I went for a cycle out the Oldtown Road towards
Griffinrath. There are scores if not Hundreds of sacks dumped in the ditches
for the entire length of the road. A sad reflection on the Patriotism and
love of country of some of our citizens-old and new! This Blight calls for
urgent action on a local and a national basis-Council.Gardai,Government and
ordinary citizens who love this once beautiful country

Cycled out that way myself a couple of weeks back it it was bad. Last year there was one spot that people dumped bags, this year it was all along a stretch for a mile or so.

On Sunday morning 13th March Tidy Towns Celbridge did a clean up of the stretch of road from St Wolstans School on the Clane Rd to Ardrass Rd.
KCC said they haven't the resources to do it.

I drive that road alot these days and its an absolute disgrace. Bags of rubbish along the side of the road, crows then come and pick at them so it's always a mess. What is more of a disgrace is the fact that KCC actually LET you gets do this. Surely you do enough?? That's just pathetic of them ''not having the resources''
