Fave lens....50mm 1.4 all the way. It's the one lens I love/use most. When I first got my 24-70 2.8 it was pre broken so it took 7 months to get repaired and had to use the 50mm 1.4. It's a "Made in China" version and not a "made in Japan" version sadly so sometimes the lens jumps when it focuses but its got brilliant light fall off at 1.4, beautiful vignetting at 1.4, increased contrast and rich, rich colours at 1.4

I reckon at least 80% of my photos are taken with this lens.

    1/800s f/1.4 ISO400 50mm

Think I'm getting better at this strobism thing:

    4974942405_cb6f3b4d80_z.jpg

This was shot outdoors against a load of trees, at about 8pm tonight.

    Info:
    SB600 x2,
Main (45' Left) at 1/1 through softbox
Fill, (45' right) at 1/4, barebulb, handheld by assistant.
    Shutter speed 1/60, ISO 640, aperture f/18.

Then my own photoshop recipe for the mono conversion!

Trigger, what kinda Post Processing methods are you using here at all? Them trucks are looking really good.

I've a funny feeling that if I took your camera off you and stood in the same place, my end result still wouldn't be as impressive. In fact I'd imagine it'd be very unimpressive. :(

    Speaking of unimpressive; I've been trying to photograph in places I don't feel comfortable (still not up for photographing people just yet!), so I tried my luck in Dunnes whilst delivering a McCloskey's unit;

Not exactly pleased with how they came out (wasn't overly pleased as I was taking them either, but sure what can ye do). Really need to start figuring out why I'm so shite at all this. :o

To all who post photos here.

Posting photos here does not really improve your skills.

But if, over a period, you view, vote and PARTAKE in the Assignments/Challenges - I bet you will improve your photo skills.

Have a look at these- and get ACTIVE.

Even if only as a voter initially

    keps.

with all due respect, this is the Random Photo Thread. It has a reasonably descriptive OP and an extremely long history in this forum as a concept. If you derail it with a post telling people they are de facto wasting their time in here, you will find your posting rights curtailed.

what's going on with the sky?

I used the graduated filter in Lightroom, it may look sort of unrealistic but it looks a hell of a lot better than without it like that.

Photo stitching is something that's always interested me, but I haven't really explored it yet. What software do you use?

Autostitch is free software. Easy to find on net. I also tend to modify after in photoshop, especially if there has been movement in the photo.
    See earlier image
    oppiesdunmore_sml.jpg
This required a lot of modification because the boats were moving all the time.

I use photoshop and choose the auto option and fix any mistakes with the clone/heal brush. Use manual for the same settings on every photograph, remember to rotate round the axis of the camera not yourself. :)

Hearing glass smash when you drop a 70-200 is a rather sphincter tightening experience, luckily it was only the Hoya filter on the front.
