I was thinking of carrying a big frame with me and taking pictures of landscapes, people etc. but with the frame in the picture. But presume it's been done a million times before....

to be *completely* honest i was hanging out the window of the car as my OH was driving, waiting for the couple to get in the frame of the shot. was just about to drive off at the traffic lights and i just papped it before we moved. didn't notice how they were framed till i developed the negs :)

Saw the bales, and thought they'd make a good shot, but after my dinner, they were already covered. Caught the tractor in question...
Just noticed it's very bright, but meh. Was using the "sports" function of the 450D, as the sigma lens gives errors if I use manual, or pretty much anything non-standard

I use wordpress.com. It's free, it's easy, and they have ready made photoblog templates.

Let us know if you set one up!

    Hi kelly -

There's a good few steps for the finished look, I had just spent a bit of time working on a step by step tutorial, but of course lost it before I could post.

Basically start with toning your image to how you see the finished photo looking, I use colour / curve adjustment layers for this. Then create 3 layers of the main image. Leave the base layer alone, put a black & white layer mask on the 2nd layer, then set the top layer to "soft light". Then, adjust the opacity of the top two layers until you get the balance of what you're looking for.

For the eyes, mask the black and white layer so the colour of the eyes in bottom layer shows through, if the effect is too strong paint a bit back in.

anyhow, clear as mud I'm sure - but hope it helps a bit.

that's the university church. the unitarian church is on the west side of the green, beside the old eircom HQ. the one which looks more churchy.
