Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm currently using a Canon 40D and mainly shoot sports.

I've got the 70-200 f2.8 and sometimes use a 1.4 extender which roughly bumps me up to 100-280 f4.

I'm considering buying the 300 f4 but am wondering is it worth my while splashing the cash on that lens when it doesn't do much more than what I've got? Or does it?

They say that a fixed focal length is normally sharper....in your case though there isn't much in it.
Now if you were to get your mitts on the 2.8 version of the 300...and now with a newer version of it out come xmas they should be lower in prices...

IQ on the f4 will be better but you lose your zoom, Sigma do a 120-300 f28
