Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was sitting at the computer waiting for people to post on this forum (sad I know) and decided to have a go at predicting merit placings based on the first 30 ac feedback scores that have bees posted.
Note that the formatting will probably be all screwed up, so give me a while to sort it out after I first post it please.

    Below are my predictions:
    AC.......Predicted
    Score...Merit Placing
    69+.......0 > 3
    68.......4 > 9
    67.......10 > 18
    66.......19 > 30
    65.......31 > 49
    64.......50 > 64
    63.......65 > 108
    62.......109 > 151
    61.......152 > 204
    60.......205 > 268
    59.......269 > 341
    58.......342 > 423
    57.......424 > 511
    56.......512 > 601
    55.......602 > 692
    54.......693 > 779
    53.......780 > 859
    52.......860 > 932
    51.......933 > 994
    50.......995 > 1046
    49.......1047 > 1088
    48.......1089 > 1120
    47.......1121 > 1144
    46.......1145 > 1162
    45.......1163 > 1174
    44.......1175 > 1182
    43.......1183 > 1187
    42.......1188 > 1191

Hi wanadrum, in Jan on previous thread, person with ac score 58 got merit score 80-100. This was page 15 of C15 waiting for the call thread. Surely this years placings couldnt be so radically different (I hope:eek:)

Same one...although I think it would make alot more sense to have two, would maybe stop some of the uproar about people with merits of 600 or 700 getting in over 300 or 400, would be more clearer in my opinion...but then again when has this process ever made sense?! :D

plugin,Ithink they are treading a fine line as it is with the present system,so to impliment a separate league table for each background would be a step too far.

wanadrum,do you have an algorithm to work out the places in the merit list or are you going by the data provided on this forum? If the latter is the case, bear in mind that the other contributors details will more than likely not be a fair representation. There will be many people viewing this forum who have chosen not to get involved in the publishing of results due to a variety of reasons...most likely poor AC results...I sypmpathise, believe me.

There are also those on Becas list who havent posted yet.Again, this could be due to disappointing scores or tardy posties:)

Good effort wanadrum though take account of the following - one guy last year got 59 at AC and got a merit under 70 , people with 58 ended up with merits between approx 90 - 145.
Obviously a lot of folks had the same AC scores and then the IST scores started kicking in.

I have to agree with Cesc that the raw data coming in is probably not truly representative.

    Hello all.

As I said when posting - I was just messing around with some numbers.

What I did was use the data we had to get a mean and standard deviation, then applied a normal distribution.

I know it isn't going to be accurate - and I will redo it when we've got a load more scores posted (please everyone post....).

I would be delighted if a score of 59 would get you into the 100's - but going by what some people have been told, they are vetting 600, look at the scores posted and if they have recieved vetting forms - it would suggest that the scores are a bit higher.

Again - don't take this list too seriously - was just having a play about with some numbers (the first 30 random scores posted).

Perhaps wee have all the assessment centre geeks (naming no names) here on the forum showing us all up.

Anyone else care to post their idea as to AC score and merit placings?

It would appear that there are a few geeks on the forum who performed so well at ac it screwed up my predictions (well that's my excuse).

Think my scores mess your table up.
    AC - 57
    Merit - 295/305

    Sorry.

no mate - it was the number of people who performed very well (62+) screwed up my standard deviation!

your not too far away, i landed ac 64, merit 20 - 30!

merit placing 240-260 with ac score of 57 so you can amend the predictions a lil bit...

btw were did you get the '59.......269 > 341 .................290-300' confirmed info from?

  • Registered Users Posts: 162 ✭✭rookie_boarder

what was your ist sjag? maybe that gained you a few marks?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 SJAG

i cant remember the ist score, can't find the letter here neither. musta been alright though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 684 ✭✭✭wanadrum

Well, I think it would be cheating to edit the predictions too much.

What I will do is repeat what I did when a few more people post their ac score up.

As for the confirmed range, I'm just collecting all the placings that people are putting up, obviously there are still a lot of blanks because there haven't been that many results posted.

59 in A/C and below 155 in Merit Pool. Seen someone else got 59 in A/C also but approx 20 places below me. IST to blame there so..

This thing won't let me edit for some reason......
