Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey

Am thinking of buying a van and converting it. But am trying to do it smartly so i can get camper tax and insurance etc.

A few questions i am confused about:

If i buy a van in ireland and convert i have to pay 13% vrt? (it will be a under 3 tonne)

Is this also the case if i buy a minibus i.e. vw carravelle? surely a non comercial vehicle such as this has already pain vrt?

If it is not registered as a camper can i pay commercial tax?

I have done searches and read up on this but im still pretty confused so if anyone has any experience ide be greatful for the info.

    thanks.

I bought a ducato panel van in the north 8 months ago.
    Paid 50 euro vrt.
Put sink/cooker/windows/sleeping area etc in it and brought it to tax office and got the tax changed to motorhome no charge.

    3.3 tons gross
    2.2 unladen.
Because it was imported as a commercial the weight was not an issue.50 euro.
After conversion only the road tax office (council)is interested in it not the revenue comm
