Was actually wondering the same, I am thinking of renting a house in the royal canal park complex. And I was also wanting to know would people recommend living there? What are the pros and cons of living in the area?
    Help greatly appreciated

I lived down the way in Pelletstown Manor for 2 years recently enough. I've listed my impressions a few times...here's some reading:

I would never go back, and I had a better time of it in my development which was smaller and quieter. Despite being technically close to town, it is fairly isolated in its own way. Few enough shops (maybe this has improved). But what would mostly put me off are the car break ins, scangers riding through the area on bikes or horses, and noise pollution. The Neighbours.ie forum is full of complaints about noise. A lot of stress around there, and really I feel very sorry for people who have to put up with some of the issues there.

thanks for the informative reply bugler!
would you consider the area to be generally unsavoury then? i know cars being broken into isn't anyones idea of heaven, but is the area unsafe?
noise and the like doesnt really bother me too much.

You might change your mind if your next door neighbour is blaring music at 4 AM on a Monday morning regularly. I don't know if I'd say it's unsafe...but break ins (and there have been threads popping up on break ins since the start on Neighbours.ie) are not good news. It is high density living and a scumbag element are in the mix, and tend to impact on everyone else. If you must live in the area, then I'd recommend Rathborne or Pelletstown Manor over RCP. You can get NTL there too (you can't in RCP), and you're closer the train station and the shops at the village.

The worst thing that ever happened me there (aside from the car break-ins) was an incident that was replicated in RCP - someone took a dump in the stairway. I remember being horrified when I read that happened in RCP - then a few months later it happened in my block. I think there was also a case of a syringe being left in the gym area in RCP too.

If you have a good read of the Neighbours forum (even start a post there), then you'll know as much as you can know without living there.
