Folks let's not take the thread off topic with random infighting. If you have nothing to add other than sniping at each other it might be best left alone. I'm going to remove some of these unnecessary posts now. If you have any questions about this please PM me as opposed to further derailing the thread.

My sympathies to his family and friends. Ireland has lost a great actor and a lovely man. R.I.P. Mr. Lally...

A gentleman & fine actor indeed. He will be surely missed. My maths teacher in secondary school was in his class at school (Mary's, Galway). My teacher used to tell us stories about him all the time, and truth be told, not a bad word could be said about him, both on and off the stage.

Mick, there isn't an adult in the country that won't remember you fondly (at the very least from Glenroe). It was the last bit of entertaining telly most families got to watch the night before the new school/work week.

    RIP.

I just text my wife and said "Miley has passed away". She replied with "Hannah Montana?". :D

I guess the cigarettes got him in the end but much too young, a great actor and a gentleman. RIP.

I enjoyed his interview on "Miriam Meets" last March on Radio 1 with Mary McEvoy. I hope it will be repeated.

Grew up watching Mick on Glenroe like most people. Watched an interview with him a couple of years back (Late Late Show maybe) and was thrilled to see how down to earth and happy he seemed.

    Sad news.
    RIP Mick

I remember little bits and pieces of Glenroe but I was a bit young to take much notice but had liked him in Ros na Rún lately. Well, the little bit I got to see of it.

    RIP

Absolute legend. He was like a second father to me. As soon as I heard the Glenroe theme song, I knew it was homework time.

    Condolences to his family :(

I laughed every time at Mileys famous saying "Well Holy God"
Saw him some years ago. I was crossing the road just off Camden Street. He was on a racing bike pulled up at the lights and looked very cool wearing his John Lennon styled sunglasses.

    RIP Mick Lally.

RIP Mick. Always seemed like such a nice man. Why is it always the good ones that die so young?
