plastering question

Hi... I am touching up two pillars at the front of the house, the beads that were used are steel and dont appear to be galvinised, so the rust was starting to appear through the paint... also, some of the plaster started falling off... I think it may have been bad sand used in the first mix.

What ratio of cement - sand - waterproofer - mortar mix should I use?

I have plastic beads in place already.

    cheers

They were galvanised but that doesnt last very long.. Thats why i never use it.

You dont need waterproofer particularly. One of the reasons it is used in the scratch coar is so that the plasterer is given more time to work on the finish coat because the water doesnt soak in as quick, but in your case i doubt that will be an issue.

The mix i use is 6 sand 2 cement 1 lime. Make sure its sharp sand
