Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi
I am traveling to Frankfurt mid September with some friends.
We are flying into Frankfurt Hahn airport, i just heard the Ryanair airport transfers bus to the city has been canceled, does anyone have any advice on the best way to get to the city from Hahn airport? Do we need to pre-book a bus to get to the city center?

We are planning on staying 4nights, can anyone recommend some nice restaurants and touristy site that are worth seeing during our stay?

    Thanks in advance

even if that bus is gone bound to be some company pick up that service, there are buses to various destinations from hahn bus shelter if ye can't get to frankfurt, trier and luxembourg city are about the same distance. its a 90min drive from hahn to frankfurt so better have your walking shoes or a suitcase of money to pay for a taxi :p

as for frankfurt there ain't alot of "tourist sites", if you like modern skyscrapers then its exciting; the best area for bars is sachsenhausen south of the river

the main tower has a great view of the city and the zoo is nice. the cathedral and romerberg give a glimpse of what frankfurt was like pre 1945

Frankfurt is an ok place but it really isnt a great tourist town.

as the other poster said, Hahn is in the arse end of nowhere, but theres a well organised shuttle bus service. the map is here:

If i were you, id be considering going somewhere nice like Heidelburg. Its also a student town so theres plenty going on in the evening too.

Alternatively, if ye are looking for more pubs than scenery, theres also a shuttle to Cologne (Köln) which Ive heard is a mad place altogether!!

(i didnt look up the shuttle times but id presume they are regular enough to destinations other than frankfurt)

I'd second Heidelberg - it's lovely. If you can't get there direct from Frankfurt-Hahn you can get a train from either Frankfurt or Mannheim. From Mannheim you have the choice of a tram or actual train.
