Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What does George Lee do?

So when he spat out his dummy in the Dail and took his bat and ball back to RTE, they had his job open for him on full salary. Now he is in, what they call 'decontamination' there since as he cannot comment in an unbiased fashion on political or economic policy. His Saturday morning show was an Independent production and his new show will be too. So they (Old Yard Productions) will be paying him separately for those gigs. So my question: What does George Lee work at in RTE to earn his fat salary for the rest of the week? Perhaps he tends te late Gerry Ryan's allotment? Maybe puts the set up for the Late Late Show? Does anyone know? Or is he just creaming off more of our cash for doing nothing? He could have done that in the Dail.

    Lenny,

I was wondering about that, when an indie produces a show/segment using RTE 'talent' are the 'talent' receiving extra payments or is the work considered part of their commitments for salary?

In my experience, the commissioning broadcaster (in this case RTE) purchases the said programme from the Independent Producer who in turn pays all the costs related to it from the fee paid by RTE. In some cases the production company will use RTE facilities for the production but would be invoiced and paid separately.
So George Lee would be invoicing the production company for his services and this would have nothing to do with his RTE committments/payments.

Its a scam, we know it, they know it, nothing will be done about it, what can ya do.....

I don't know what he earns; maybe €250k a year? maybe more? For sure, if he was to leave RTE now and look for a job in the private or semi-private sector, he'd be lucky to get 1/3rd of that working as an economist.
