Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

WD Passport Looking for Password

    Hi,

I have had my WD Passport for several months now and it has been working perfectly. I recently ran the backup software from the *.exe file and it was fine. But the next time I used it it asked for a password to access files, even though I had originally accessed files on the drive 5 minutes earlier before it bumped me off. I never entered a password into the blasted drive and I am totally confused now. If anyone has a similar experience (and solution I would really appreciate it)

    Regards,

    Shakeydude

the above will allow you to access the drive BUT it will reset the profile and you'll lose everything thats currently on it.

If you want to just use the drive, I'd suggest removing the WD apps (WD site has a how to) and remove the virtual CD application that pops up (again WD site has the how to, requires firmware upgrade).

For future password protection, I'd use something along the lines of Truecrypt (the portable option).

    wd PDF on encryption used:
    http://www.wdc.com/en/library/other/2579-701178.pdf

clearly states "delete to remove password". The password set seems to be a function of the WDSynch software.

I'll move this thread to tech>computers and technology , you'll probably get better advice there.

    Cheers,

I was thinking I was outta place!!!

Can you tell me how it is looking for a password now to access when I never came remotely near entering a password.....you would think that they would ask for password confirmation?
