Joey Mercury will be out of action for several months after undergoing surgery over the weekend to repair a torn pectoral muscle. It's considered a six month recovery process.

Despite the injury, Mercury is expected to remain on television since he had his arm on Monday's RAW just days after surgery. Many feel that with Serena's recent release, it wasn't a good time to remove Mercury from television since the Straight Edge Society wouldn't be much of a group with two people. However, Punk and Gallows broke up at the following last night's SmackDown !television taping in Albany, NY, so the injury may have been the catalyst to disband the group. It sure seemed like it last night - the S.E.S is ending

If true, WWE is off they're F'N rockers.. Especially after CM Punk's incredible promo on Raw Monday, personally in my mind, it proved S.E.S still has serious longevity, and in the longer term Gallows and Mercury could have gained greater exposure and gotten over more than they have.. Tis a sad say if this is true.. Unless CM Punk creates another incarnation of the group..

Probably the best and most entertaining group in years with CM Punk as an excellent leader. Since the beginning the group as failed to get over. They've lost the majority of their feuds and getting crushed 3 on 1 against the Big Show like that was sickening.

The SES really had the chance to expand and become more and more stronger. The heat they got from the crowds was better than anyone else in the company gets and the promos they, or Punk, cut were fantastic to watch.

But tbf Gallows came in as a bodyguard kind of figure for Punk but instead became the groups jobber, Punk has done fook all since in terms of winning belts and rightfully main eventing PPVs, Serena was never given the chance in the Diva's department despite being the best female wrestler on SD and Mercury has become a whipping boy since removing the mask.

All in all the writers have really dropped the ball here by making the group look so weak at times when they could have pushed Punk to the moon and let the others become mildly success in the Tag and Diva's divison but they didn't.

I didn't really like Punk's promo on Raw, it was well delivered and all but what did it achieve other than pointing out all the big stars that aren't with the company anymore? Did SES every really get off the ground? They were never really a threat. Punk's probably better off going solo again.

I think Punks promo was tremendous, and the heat he got, proved to me that he really is the most compelling Heel on either Raw/Smackdown these days..

S.E.S where, what they where.. Which was imo, the most entertaining and indeed most watchable thing about Smackdown for the last 9 or so months. Tbh your right SES probably didnt become as big a faction as they should have, but they where still fantastic, and i'll personally miss them..

As entertaining as SES were it was mainly Punk anyway so it won't be too much different. It'll probably be better off for Punk, he won't have to carry career midcarders like Mercury and Gallows.

Punk doesn't need them to get heat, and they're not getting anything out of it, either.

I can see punk saying about how they were weak and this is what happens when they turn away from their duties etc.

I hope they replace them. Christian could be cool in the group me thinks

Honestly, SES was going no where and the members they put into it left me completely cold. If anyone really thought Luke Gallows or Joey Mercury were going anywhere however they were booked I'd question if they were watching the same guys I was.

They could have done the angle better, sure, but that promo you referenced was all CM Punk and zero SES and in no way should it be used as a reason why the group should have continued. I for one will look forward to seeing CM Punk in some 1v1 matches in the future rather being hamstrung by listless acolytes.

SES was better on paper than it ever was on screen and all the good parts of it involving other members stemmed from Punk lambasting the other members for being crap - the writing was always on the wall for this stable. WWE's hand was completely forced in shutting it down anyways, so few can have many complainants in that regard.

Punk should keep his group and recruit new members maybe a mid carder, tag team (if any left in WWE ) or maybe some of Nxt rookies from Season 2

I kinda expected Nexus eliminated Darren Young to be joining SES

Hey, that's not a bad idea! It'd make sense, all he needs is bodies to make up the SES....

It's a shame they didn't go full-out with the SES, I was hoping Punk would recruit many more bodies, maybe 10 or so, who'd come out with him....and when he got his head shaved I was hoping he'd stay bald with a massive terrorist beard, and start wearing a cloak, and become a cult leader, get some Ministry of Darkness thing going....it'd be amazing.....think of the crazy cult promos, from a bunker, everyone drinking kool-aid, *actually maybe not that part until after Linda's senate campaign* :D

oh well. It was went to sh!t whenever it was Big Show who de-masked him on a random SD and he started growing his hair back :(

^ If Christian joining SES will give him a push I'm all for it but I would prefer to see a Christian/Punk feud I loved their little interaction once in ECW :)

Gallows was a good body guard but he was never going to become Kevin Nash. I think SES was better when It was just Punk and Gallows with Punk doing the in ring work.

I would welcome a new SES where Punks followers had real main event potential. He should get Husky.
