Removing solder

Hey all,
Just wondering is it diffciult to remove solder from a board.
I'm replacing the powerjack on the sister board of a laptop at home.
A new sister board is 24 pounds while a power jack is 3.50.



Thats the power jack above so the prongs have to fit in the board and be resoldered while at the moment the holes for the prongs are covered with solder....

No its not hard, you just need some desoldering wick to suck up the old solder.

A desoldering pump should do it.

As said you'll need either a desoldering pump or wick to remove the solder

TBH though if you have to ask that question then you obviously haven't done much in the way of soldering before so you'd probably be a better off in the long run just buying the sister board.

At the very least practice on a scrap board unsoldering all the components before you attempt it properly.
