Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This will be my first winter cycling and I have no idea of what kit I will need. Have been heading out on 60 - 80 km spins throughout the summer & hope to keep it up.

Would be really grateful if you could advise me as to what winter cycling kit should I be investing in?

    Cheers.

Invest in a good windproof and thermal jacket and a couple of warm long sleeve baselayers.

Windproof gloves are more useful than waterproof

    Tights

    Skullcap

    Merino wool socks

    Overshoes

    It's only autumn......

Nice warm bibtights firrst purchase I'd say.e.g
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=29168

    L/s Jersey.e.g
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=27330

L/s baselayer. You can get those anywhere. Your local Champion sports (or whatever) will have em. and they are often cheaper there.

Packaway Rain Jacket.e.g http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11427. Don't get a heavy jacket-You'll be wet from the inside out.

Above are the basics imo and make winter cycling enjoyable.

Gloves skullcaps (under helmet-important) gilets gloves overshoes and other stuff can be got later as the winter progresses. You can use everyday stuff.

Wiggle own brand DHB stuff is good also.

Go for the utterly brilliant Endura BaaBaa merino wool base layer. Toasty warm, wicking, stays warm even if wet and doesn't get smelly like synthetic base layers.

I had one all last winter and it and a jersey were warm enough even in the frost...

Don't think the budget will stretch to boots so looking out for a good pair of shoe covers. Anyone recommend any or are they all much the same? Most of the ones I seen say they are windproof but not waterproof.

These are da biz, hard wearing, completely windproof and very waterproof, yes they will get wet in a deluge BUT they will keep your feet toasty warm.
