A 68 today from Harrington for even par after 2 round's.

As it stand's he will miss the cut and thus out of the Fed-Ex Cup.

Yep. Looks like a month away from competitive golf before the Ryder Cup unless he takes in the KLM next week possibly. Probably won't. Will probably drop out of the worlds top 20 as well. Not ideal preparation.

You never know. This might just what is required. A break from competitive golf and time to try and sort out his driving in a practice environment. Hopefully this is what happens.

But Harrington told reporters that he will look to add a European tour date to his schedule in an attempt to improve his form. "I'll definitely play before now and the Ryder Cup. What are the three [European tournaments]? I don't even know, I'll have to have a look."

Anyone else hate that the final round is not tonight?

    Nope, it's a nice change.

    =======

*Waits for inevitable choke from Scott and Day*

Stricker bet is dead, but he's doing well as ever.

Saying he might play the Irish PGA at Seapoint instead of the Vivendi. Think it wouldn't be the best move to go play 72-holes of links golf before playing the Ryder Cup at what is bound to be a soft and soggy Celtic Manor.

Could wreck his swing if windy

According to him the swing is fine-it's the 30+ putts a round that are doing the damage. But I'm sure thats what you were on about...

Is Padraig definitely out of the FedEx as I noticed that his projected ranking, 75th after missing the cut on Saturday, is now at 72.

I know its a long shot, but I wonder is he still in the US?

After a quick check, yep it's top 5. Day is pulling every approach shot I've seen today.

    Can't believe I haven't won a tourney this year, truly can't.

    here's hoping,
if there wasn't a two shot difference between the 4/5th spot it would be ok.
only way now is for running birdies, and hope one of the others drop back

Was really hoping Romero was going to shoot a low number today and secure a decent e/w return. Not to be however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 326 ✭✭Dero123

Good player Romero although seems to have lost him way a bit over in America, think a spell in Europe could see him find the form of a couple of years ago. Won a fair few bob on him over the years

Beast of a round from Hoffman. Deserves every bit of it.

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/golf/2010/0907/deutschebank.html
Little-known American Charley Hoffman has suddenly thrown himself into contention for a Ryder Cup wild card after a staggering performance in the second of the FedEx Cup play-off events.
The 33-year-old grabbed 11 birdies in a career-low 62 - the best round of the day by three - to take the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston by five strokes.
It was only his second US Tour victory in 298 starts and he came into it 132nd on the world rankings.

I dont know what hacks RTE has writing for them (the story is uncredited) but thats a disgraceful comment IMO. He may not be a household name, but anyone who watches even a small bit of PGA tour golf would know who Hoffman is.

the typical gaa/premiership fanatic who masquerades as a sports journalist who knows shart-all really.

the same calibre of dung fell outa the face of whatever other toolbag was doing the sports report at the end of the news on the radio on wednesday morning. you know those syndicated news reports that all the channels play. such an incredible level of mediocrity that it almost warrants scientific research.

christ i hate the news on the radio.

It's the same with nearly all news stories-newscasters dumb the stories down to a level that those unfamiliar with the report/sport in question can comprehend. While we, as golfers, would have known about the Hoff, most sports fan would not have.

You are correct of course. are you a golf playing cylon with no emotion only synthetic, cold as steel, deduction? When you pitch-in from a bunker for an eagle do you allow yourself a modicum self satisfaction or is it simply a process for you? when in bed with the...... ah nevermind.

If you hate the news why listen to it?

As for the above drivel...does not compute.
