The proper name of "The Folly" is "Richardson's Folly".

So - here's one I don't know - who was Richardson and what was his folly?
I think there was a Richardson's farm out there, they used to have a herd of Jersey cattle.

The five Streets in Waterford beginning with W are:

    Water Street
    William Street
    Wilkins Street
    Wellington Street
Washington Street - which is the now-paved street running from the top of Colbeck Street along past the Cathedral and behind the theatre.

A 'Couse' is a derivative of the Gaelic for 'causeway', usually comprised up of stepping stones to cross a stream.
'Couse Bridge Roundabout' on the ring road indicates the historic location of such a crossing, not sure if the stepping stones still exist?

    On which side :)

Waterford is the only county in the republic that more volunteers went to fight for the Spanish Republic than Franco in the Spanish Civil War (there were counties in the North where more went to fight for the Spanish Republic too).

Also Eoin O'Duffy tried to leave for Spain via Passage East, but the local people informed the Gardaí
