They had chocolate and homemade scones yum yum

The .308's are chronoing mean score 2979fps

What was the standard deviation Tac? Or what was the max range between fastest and slowest round you tested?

Thats a good SD to get on factory rounds. And in the pissing rain. ;)

We'll have to get another test n dry conditions to see if they are any better, or was rain a factor.

I remember chronogranphing .22lr ammo years ago and it was staggering the variance in some of the cheaper stuff

i'd ideally prefer single digit standard deviation or if possible no deviation "in a perfect world"
I don't want to shoot another deer today as i still have a fella to butcher and i need to get a supply of freezer bags etc, and freezer space

Rain not a factor as the chrno is only a couple of yards from the muzzel

Rain may be a factor on the chrono to how it reads the information it receives.

The only way to prove positive is to test in several conditions, take note of the conditions @ the time. hPA temp. would be the most useful factors, and if a temp gauge was on the barrel so all rounds were fired from a barrel of the same temperature.
To be scientific one has to keep as much as possible the same to measure variations, no matter how subtle.

Any experience I have had in metrology we always try to mimic the same test conditions to discover any commonalities and Standard deviations

Nohing wrong with the pro hunter I just wanted a rifle with a heavy barrel for a bit of target shooting and I liked the prohunter so I thought stick with steyr and I liked the look of the scout, that's about it.

its not too heavy for me but it is heaver than a stalking/hunting rifle but its what i wanted. the built in bipod is handy alright.
its a very accurate rifle and it seems to be able to manage every different round i'v tried from light to heavy
