Hi there, need some advice regarding applying to postgrad courses? Is there any way to apply for postgrad courses other than the CAO route? How can you check to see if there are any available places on mainstream courses that would be possible to join as soon as possible rather than waiting around a full year for? Cheers :)

WHat area are you looking at?

If you're applying for a research post grad, you email the supervisor you want, telling them you're interested in their work and ask if they have a research position for you. Usually you meet them a few times to discuss what you want to do before any formal acceptance.

If you're applying for a taught masters, you just go on college websites and read the programme details and apply whatever way they say to there. There are usually application forms provided.

You can always email the faculty first to find out more.

You can't get post grad through the CAO!

You apply through PAC if applying through the National Universities of Ireland which you can do so now if its an IT or private college you apply directly to them but its usually around March/April/May/June for an early application sometimes it might be July/August/September for a late application. PAC is similar to CAO.
