I looking for some info on the railway from Dundalk to Derry. Did it pass through the county and is it still intact. Thanks again.

Do you mean old railway? There doesn't appear to be a line there according to the internet, though theres not much history on there. Alot of the railway in northern ireland has been destroyed sadly! Theres no railway in western northern ireland except for derry but i wouldn't call that western compared to fermanagh and tyrone, theres also barely any railway in county antrim except for ballymeana and belfast, they should have railway the whole way to ballycastle, its quite embaressing actually. As for the history you'd be best to ask someone who knows about railways about it. Heres a list of wikipedia lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_narrow_gauge_railways_in_Ireland , there doesn't appear to be one.

I doubt it, though there will definately be some track on the way depending on when it ended service lol, if it was 1800s, i doubt any track is left.

shows you the entire railway network in 1906 and the "Derry Road" the Dundalk/Derry route is clearly indicated. The railway closed in 1965 and the track removed but some earthworks, bridges etc still exist. Click on the Wiki map several times will enlarge until perfectly legible.

I am not sure what is meant by the phrase "Railway from Dundalk to Derry". There is not a direct link but there is a rail link through Belfast, Antrim Town, Ballymena, Ballymoney and Coleraine and along the north coast to Derry. The line from Belfast to Coleraine is quite good having been renovated early in 2009. The track from Coleraine to Derry is poor. It is due to be upgraded during the period 2012 to 2016. The scenery on that part of the route is spectacular - perhaps the most scenic rail route in Ireland.
