Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tony Toner and Peter Dickson will be talking about Bike Tyre Do's and Don'ts tonight during our Motorbike slot - if you have any questions or opinions please post them here. Below was written by Tony Toner in our sticky.

"Tonight we have Bridgestone's motorcycle tyre guru Peter Dickson as our guest panelist. So any questions you have about your bike's tyres - send them onto us and we will try to get the defacto answer.

Also, due to Peter's access to the Moto GP paddock, we will get an insight into the Irish involvement in Moto GP and maybe the inside track on some of the off-track shenanigans. You may have some questions you want to ask him so get tapping."

I had a set of bridgestones trailwings on my old GS1150. I found out that they were the worst tyres you could get, riders nicknamed them "deathwings" they were so bad! Ask Peter why they were so bad!

Is the show podcasted? I won't be able to listen tonight!

I will never forget Tony's description of the scary moments he had with a tyre that just didnt suit the bike, "On more than one occasion I wore the seat as a thong as I clenched when the tyre let go".

I had a Dunlop 207 on a VFR 750 and I swore never again would I get a Dunlop tyre,it was lethal in the wet but ok in the dry.And living in the climate we do the chances of a wet road are more than 70-30.I then went to a BT14,21,23 and am on the second 23.Couldn't fault them at all althought it's my opinion that the tread pattern on the 21 was a little bit better at getting rid of standing water than the 23's are but I'm probably raving.

    All the best:)

I went off dunlops too for a few years after some unhappy experiences. But I have Quallifier RR's on my GSXR750K7 and I love them.

Lads, it completely depends on the bike. You can't rule out a particular tyre manufacture just because they were bad on a certain bike. And vice versa, it makes no sense to use a particular brand on a new bike because they were good on your old bike.

I was looking for BT021's with a 200 profile back tyre today only to be told they not availiable in that profile.

What difference does it make if I drop down to a 190 instead, the OEM spec does state 200.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

I had BT014's on my old zx9r and thought they were a great tyre, so would like to keep the ZX12 on BT's if possible.

THe tyre place today suggested AVON Storm2 ultimas, but they are coming in at 300 clams for the pair!... Yikes!!!
