Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just about to cycle home today , and had a blow out on a continental Gator skin side wall , tire had alot of mileage on it but didnt look to worn

Few weeks ago had a similar blow out with a conti gp4000s that time there was 2 small holes close to each other on the side wall

am I just unlucky or what ?

I always keep the pressure about 120 psi check it every week to two weeks

both blow outs on the front wheel, about a mm up from the rim...

    any advice ??

That's alot of pressure!! No need for all that unless you're flat out racing or time trialling I reckon.

I put about 100psi or less, and only check every other week or when I can feel it going........ Commuting bike.

Check your brakes, sounds like they could be rubbing off your tyre. Wouldn't take long to shred a tyre if they are.

Also, 120psi might be a wee bit too high, especially for a front wheel. I'd usually run the front wheel at 100psi and the back at 110.

good call on the brakes , the pads are pretty worn -ill get new ones tomorrow

the psi is prob 110 to 120 , but thats the conti recomendation and I'd be flat out in and out on 90% decent surface

I would be worried about having 23mm tyres pumped to max. in the wet. The slightest manhole cover, kerb could pop you off the bike. Happened to me twice last year. Wet weather / slight kerb / bump and you can get a scary wobble. Not good in traffic unless you slow it down.

That's why I bought a Trek Valencia with 32mm tyres for commuting, but sure, that got robbed! :P

120psi, unless you're up against Beasty in a TT. :P
